Author: Han Tang's Return Updated: 2025/4/20 8:30pm Word Count: 4221 "You and Aesphyra have a really good relationship, don't you? Always discussing alchemy together after class and even running errands for her to fetch materials," Sif joked. "Please, don't say such things, teacher. Aesphyra and I aren't that close. If she hears about this, I'm sure she'll give me a hard time." "Alright, you should hurry up. The alchemy process can't wait too long, you know." "Ah, okay, understood." Wenny replied and quickly made his way to the alchemy supplies room. After watching Wenny leave, Sif glanced in the direction he had come from, and then turned and departed. "Young man, if I'm not mistaken, it's after school. What brings you here?" said the elderly man guarding the alchemy supplies room, with a newspaper in hand. "Sir, could you give me a portion of dragon whisker root? Aesphyra is busy with her potion-making and can't leave, so she sent me to fetch it for her." "Oh, little Aesphyra, always so diligent." The old man stroked his beard slowly, walked into the supplies room leisurely, and took out something resembling ginseng with long roots, except it was a dusky brown. He placed it in a leather pouch and handed it to Wenny. "Thank you, sir," Wenny said, and swiftly returned. The old man sat down and recorded the materials Wenny took, noting it was on Aesphyra's behalf. "Aesphyra, I've got the dragon whisker root," Wenny said, handing the leather pouch through the door, which was received by a slender, gloved hand. "Thank you, Wenny. Please wait outside for a bit, okay?" Aesphyra smiled, as the sound of cauldrons bubbling came from within, indicating she was adding ingredients, controlling the flames, and balancing the potion's effect. Just from the sound, it was apparent this potion was complex, but given Aesphyra's alchemical skills, there was nothing to worry about. Wenny waited outside for around fifteen minutes before the cauldron's bubbling ceased, signaling the nearing end of her crafting. After organizing her concoctions and the leftover liquids, she disposed of the gloves, washed her hands, and donned a new pair from her pocket. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Wenny," Aesphyra emerged with a radiant smile, appearing to have tucked away her finished potion, as Wenny didn't see it. "Finished so quickly?" Wenny raised an eyebrow. "It's only been a quarter of an hour." Crafting alchemical potions, especially those of high grade, usually takes considerable time, often not less than an hour. Though Wenny knew he would have to wait long, he couldn't miss out on the rare chance to have Aesphyra treat him. "I had to hasten the process; I couldn't let you stand out there waiting," Aesphyra's smile was alluring. "Ugh, since when did you start caring so much about me?" Wenny feigned disdain and took a step back. "Stop it. You're making me uncomfortable." "Could it be that Wenny has some peculiar tastes?" Aesphyra tilted her head in curiosity. "Huh? What are you talking about? What odd tastes?" "You know, those who enjoy being bullied and insulted, finding pleasure in humiliation and oppression—commonly known as M~" "Hey! Who in the world enjoys that? I'm not like that at all!" Wenny retorted indignantly. "Then, why—" Aesphyra stepped closer, leaning towards Wenny with a mesmerizing smile on her beautiful face, "—when I'm a little nicer to Wenny, he takes it for granted?" Wenny hastily stepped back, the scent of roses making his heart race. Her flawless smile seemed to pierce through to his soul. Even Wenny, who had developed some immunity to beautiful girls, found it hard to resist. Tsk, this little witch is too enchanting. Despite not having an impressive figure, she captivates so effortlessly. Truly deserving of her title as the game’s destined heroine, her beauty and charm are unparalleled, T0 level across the continent. No wonder players nicknamed her the "Terris Succubus." Without talent, she couldn't possibly attract so many beautiful women. "Let's go," she said, her violet eyes at once sultry and profound as she brushed past Wenny, her silver hair with a butterfly knot carrying a faint, chill aroma unique to her. "Where to?" Wenny was momentarily dazed. "Doesn’t Wenny want his reward?" Aesphyra turned, her jewel-like eyes dancing like stars, and laughed a silver bell-like giggle. "Yes, of course, I do. Only a fool would refuse," Wenny answered immediately, chasing after her. He would never miss the opportunity to make Aesphyra pay. "Hey, where are we having dinner tonight?" Wenny asked as he followed behind Aesphyra. As the host, he had no say on the venue, so it felt a bit difficult. While Wenny wasn't particularly concerned about appearances, basic courtesy was a must. He considered himself to be a relatively humble and easy-going person. "Come to think of it, what were you crafting earlier, Aesphyra?" Wenny asked. "Curious? Are you?" "Just somewhat, given that it’s rare for you to personally craft something." "If you're curious, you could try asking me nicely. Maybe if I’m in a good mood, I’ll tell you," Aesphyra teased. "Ask? How so?" Wenny raised an eyebrow. "Show sincere interest, like kneeling to kiss my foot." "Tch, I knew you couldn't say anything decent," Wenny clicked his tongue. She seemed unbothered because she was sure he wouldn't dare. If he actually did, she wouldn't be pleased either. Yet, running an errand for Aesphyra, and she offers him dinner? Could she really be this generous? Although she is indeed generous, it depends on who—towards those conquest targets, those beauties, Aesphyra is immensely patient and generous, even giving away rare alchemical recipes for free. But towards boys? Wenny's attitude was already quite guarded, not even matching what Aesphyra received. Despite being at the academy for quite some time, Aesphyra had received no less than a hundred love letters from different boys. Each was politely declined with the proverbial "you're a good person" card, after which she would have no further interaction with them. In the original story, she even used disposable gloves to handle those letters, as if they were something dirty. Imagine how heartbroken those boys would be if they knew that the girl they were so enamored with wouldn't even touch the letters they sent with her bare hands. In short, Aesphyra inviting a guy to dinner was a completely out-of-character thing to do. Realizing this, doubt and caution crept into Wenny's mind. What on earth was Aesphyra planning? "We're here. Is it alright to have dinner here? This must be your first time," Aesphyra said, pulling Wenny from his thoughts as she stopped in front of a shop. "Oh," Wenny looked up to see the familiar pink decor. Oh crap, why here? Wenny's eye twitched as he stared at the maid café in front of him. "Hmm? Could it be that this isn't your first time here?" Aesphyra covered her mouth and laughed lightly at Wenny’s reaction. "I wouldn't have guessed~" It wasn't his first time here, but the first time he came it wasn't as a patron. "It really is my first time. I'm the one who should be saying this to you." Wenny glanced at Aesphyra beside him. "You've really explored every corner of Carey Liman Academy." "Oh, right. I almost forgot your character attributes. You must visit here often, right? No surprise there. What, have you charmed another young lady here?" Wenny raised an eyebrow. "Uh-huh, why don’t you guess?" she teased. "I'm not interested in guessing what uninterested people think, thanks," Wenny replied, crossing his arms. "How harsh. Even after spending so much time together, I still can't stir even the slightest interest from you?" "Nope," Wenny turned his gaze elsewhere. "Heartless. Then why won't you look me in the eye when you talk?" "Does it matter? Are we gonna eat or not? I've been waiting so long for you that I'm starving," Wenny huffed, raising an eyebrow. "Alright, alright, let's go in. I know you can't wait any longer," Aesphyra sighed, walking inside the maid café. "Welcome home, dear master meow!" A cheerful smile awaited them upon entry. "Oh, it's Master Aesphyra! Meow, you have three private room sessions left this month. Would you like to use one?" "No, we'll just dine in the hall." "Got it, meow, no problem, meow. Master Aesphyra and this blue-haired master, please have a seat inside." The maid, named Neko, energetically headed to the kitchen. Wenny glanced around the café. There weren’t many people today, maybe because it was late, so the place was sparse. Besides Neko, there were two other maids, likely hired by the owner, Luna, after his last visit. Since he'd worked here as a maid once, he hadn't returned until now. "What are you looking for, Wenny?" Aesphyra asked. "Nothing," Wenny shook his head, turning to Aesphyra with a disdainful look. "You really are a regular here, huh?" "Not really. I just topped up a little money. It would be a waste not to use it." "Masters, here's your tea." A maid with dark green hair brought the tray to their table. "Thank you~ Miss Feli looks stunning today, a real sight for sore eyes," Aesphyra complimented, throwing a playful look at the bashful maid. "Thank you for your kind words," Feli blushed, unable to handle the praise. There she goes again, expanding her repertoire to the bystanders. Wenny could only watch, amused yet envious, as Aesphyra effortlessly charmed others. Why did she make them blush while he earned blank stares and disdain? Why did things have to be this way? She's still a girl, yet so adept at flirting!? "Jealous, Wenny?" after Feli left with the menu, Aesphyra propped her chin on her hand, teasing Wenny with a playful sparkle in her eye. "I'm not jealous of you at all!" Wenny regretted thinking of getting a free meal from Aesphyra. Should’ve known this scheming woman had something up her sleeves, luring him into a maid café like this. "If you’re envious, Wenny, you can’t just keep acting like this, you know? There's someone for everyone, but timid folks miss out," Aesphyra grinned, watching Wenny. "..." Wenny's eye twitched. Damn it, out here being shown off by green-eyed maid flirters, and now this? Cursed it was, a notorious prince losing a flirt battle to a green-eyed girl who already parades a harem of lead heroines. How unfair is this to a mere background guy? Oh, Orange Games, oh, where’s justice for men? "So, do I seem like someone timid to you?" Wenny challenged. "Hmm, let's see." "See what?" Wenny frowned. "Whenever I think you're fearless, you let me down. Yet when I judge you as cautious, you surprise me." "So now, I really can't tell if you're bold or timid," Aesphyra said with a thoughtful tone. Wenny's expression slowly became more serious. "Being bold might mean fewer missed opportunities, but could lead astray. Being timid might mean missing out, but safety’s assured. Don’t you think?" "...." "So, are you brave or cautious, Wenny?" "What do you think the optimal choice is?" Wenny queried. "Me? I think everything is fine as long as one doesn’t act brave when they should show caution and vice versa. Such people miss many chances and might risk their lives," Aesphyra said brightly. "So, Aesphyra, you invited me just to discuss this?" "Just teasing, why so serious, Wenny?" she burst into laughter at his serious contemplation, her expression taunting. "See? Even vague and meaningless words like these, Wenny, you see them as truth. Silly and adorable, just like the puppy at my door," she mocked. 2025/04/27/22/29 Share this book on: Quick share to Weibo QQSpace QQ Friends Baidu Tieba Tencent Weibo Baidu Collections Baidu New Homepage Copy URL
