A Girl Can't Find an Evil God in Textbooks Ship Girl East Huang's National Time Travel Volume Two, Chapter 21 ~ Ranking Seizure Battle Author: Han Tang Returns Updated: 2025/5/3 20:30:00 Word Count: 4020 After painstakingly saving for so long, it's all spent in a jiffy; indeed, spending money is far easier and quicker than earning it. This time, Wenny invested all his merits into the bloodline skill of his [Blessed Angel]. The [Holy Fire Blessing] improved, and the [Holy Feather Blessing] is just a hair's breadth from upgrading to four wings, yet it remains an ultimate dual-wing, without acquiring new magic. After all, Wenny is still merely at the sorcerer rank, whether with [Holy Emissary] or [Armour Shell], the offensive magic he can learn is quite limited. Wenny glanced at the current balance, a mere 354 points left, which now feels negligible compared to the vast sum it was before he awakened his bloodline. These merits, insufficient for upgrading his innate bloodline skill, remain quite ample for learning magic spells. But the problem is, the current [Holy Emissary] offensive spells don’t catch his eye; and for [Armour Shell], it’s likely wasted, since he probably won’t even use it. Wenny browsed through the merits page for any offensive magic he could purchase with his remaining merits, but came up empty-handed. As expected, being at the sorcerer level, hoping to learn any substantial offensive spell is a pipe dream. Just as Wenny was about to close the merits page, he caught a glimpse of a uniquely named spell. “【Ice Skin Spell】? This spell doesn’t seem like something Vannesa can learn; it’s likely for the male form.” Wenny had long noticed that the magic offered by the merit system wasn’t solely for Vannesa’s [Holy Emissary], and light element affinity, but also included magic related to [Armour Shell] and Wenny's inherent element affinity. 【Ice Skin Spell】: Requires exceptional ice element affinity or higher. The requirement is quite high, but 【Ice Skin Spell】? What kind of spell is this? Wenny is somewhat familiar with well-known ice element spells, but has never heard of this 【Ice Skin Spell】. It's probably a rarely used spell; otherwise, why haven't any high ice affinity apprentices used it? With this thought, Wenny suspected this spell might be useless, yet he persisted in reading the 【Ice Skin Spell】’s effects thoroughly. 【Ice Skin Spell】: Coats all worn or held metal weapons with a layer of magical ice. Huh? Only usable on metal? As expected, it's pure trash; what mage walks around clad in armor? As Wenny thought this, a realization hit him, his brow furrowing. No, isn't this a divine skill for him?? For other ice element mages, this spell indeed serves no purpose, but for him, it’s different. 【Ice Skin Spell】 can partner with 【Armour Shell】, coating 【Armour Shell】 with a layer of offensive and defensive magical ice. For him, isn’t it akin to having a unique skill tailor-made for him? With this thought, Wenny immediately chose this spell, noting the merit cost, exactly 350 points. ‘Merit deducted: 350.’ ‘Current merit: 4.’ ‘【Ice Skin Spell】 has been acquired.’ Wenny eagerly rubbed his hands. His merits are utterly depleted, dwindling from over ten thousand to a mere 4 points. Yet, Wenny felt utterly transformed, his combat prowess remarkably enhanced. He was no longer the Wenny who could be easily toyed with by a destined female protagonist! Now, he felt overwhelmingly powerful, capable of facing ten Aesphyra’s! Of course, this bold claim remained a mental exaggeration, merely an inner thought. In the blink of an eye, school was back in session. The Holy Healing Festival was this week, and notably, this flu seemed quite severe. One of Wenny’s classmates caught a nasty cold, ending up in the medical office. Ultimately though, it was just the flu. Although its intensity was high, the spread of the flu was weak, with very few students contracting it. Wenny was only aware of Fred and a couple of his classmates being affected. These days, Aesphyra seemed exceptionally busy; after class, Wenny hadn’t seen much of her and wondered what occupied her time, possibly developing that alchemical potion of hers. Wenny was clueless about what potion Aesphyra was concocting and didn’t intend to ask outright. With the Holy Healing Festival approaching, Wenny and Mirexia had discreetly contacted the school administration to apprehend the parasites lurking in Kariliman Academy during the festival, thwarting the inner traitors among the 【Bronze Blood】 who planned to abduct Mirexia. Everything was set; the administration was ready, and Wenny had coordinated with 【Bronze Blood】. Yet, would everything go smoothly?? An inexplicable anxiety weighed on Wenny’s mind, possibly due to this segment marking the turning point of the original narrative. Balancing schoolwork while weaving through 【Bronze Blood】’s ranks to ensnare them all, Wenny found himself inevitably enmeshed in the main plotline, entangled with fate. Yet, not all was uneventful; for instance… “Finally found you, Wenny! This time, I won't let you escape!” A fiery-haired girl stood with one hand on her hip, pointing at Wenny as she shouted. “Um, sorry, who are you?” Wenny silently rubbed his chin, contemplating before replying as he stepped out of the classroom. “You! Don’t pretend like you don’t remember, we just met days ago!” the girl retorted, shaking her flame-like ponytail in anger. “Sorry, miss. Have we met? I’ve been swamped these past days, truly forgot.” Wenny responded, puzzled. “You aren’t serious! Am I that forgettable to you?!” the girl exclaimed, her hands on her hips, visibly annoyed. “Fine! I’ll reintroduce myself, I'm Fenni Cassius!” “Oh, I recall now, the faux Holy Cross Knight from the other day?” Wenny said, realization dawning. “I’m not a fake, I will be one eventually!” Fenni objected defensively. “I only know you’re not one now. What? In just a matter of days, you’ve returned to face me again? Not running back to your mother? Trying to prove something? Give up, girl, the goddess won’t fancy someone who spins lies.” Wenny teased. “Ugh, you’re as obnoxious as the rumors said! Today, no matter what, I’ll expose you for the imposter, masquerading as the goddess’s descendant!” Fenni declared, pointing accusingly at Wenny. “Oh? And how do you plan on exposing me?” Wenny folded his arms, smirking nonchalantly. “I challenge you to a duel!” Fenni thrust her chin upwards defiantly. “Aren’t you ranked twenty-third in the school? Well, post-midterm exams, freshmen can initiate direct challenges. I’m going to challenge you! Take your rank!” “You? Come on, girl, who are you? Top of the entrance exam? Top fifty? Qualified to challenge me, are you?” Wenny scoffed dismissively, his tone casual yet condescending. "I'm ranked among the top twenty-three upon entering, which means out of all the new students, only twenty-two rank above me. And who are you to challenge me? Come back when you've broken into the top fifty; until then, I'm not interested in entertaining challenges from small fry like you. Goodbye," Wenny said with a dismissive wave, intending to leave. However, Fenni was not about to let him walk away so easily. These arrogant, condescending words made Fenni's blood boil with indignation. She immediately stepped in front of Wenny to block his path. "Don't underestimate me! Who says I'm not in the top fifty?? I ranked forty-eighth in the entrance competition, so I'm qualified to challenge you according to the ranking challenge rules! If you refuse to duel me, it means you're afraid, and I can rightfully take your spot!" Fenni retorted with a snort. "Oh, so only forty-eighth, huh? Strutting around with the last of the top fifty rankers, what makes you so cocky? What's your confidence built on? With that attitude, one might think you’re in the top five," Wenny said, glancing down at Fenni's chest. People often called Aesphyra a "tiny bun," having to lower her head among other main characters, but in front of this perfectly flat chested church girl, Aesphyra could lift her head high and puff out her chest like a swan. "You, shameless one pretending to be the goddess's descendant, must have used underhanded methods to achieve twenty-third rank! Your claim is all façade, no substance!" Fenni accused pointedly. Oh, really? Should I credit this to the fool’s intuition? She's partially correct, after all. But truth be told, Wenny saw this girl as radiating a uniquely endearing dim-witted charm. "Still, you're in no position being forty-eighth to challenge me. There are over twenty ranks between us, none of whom have stepped up to face me; you think you can skip ahead? Did you even ask those ranked above you? Are you in their queue?" Wenny mocked. "Che! B-because I'm not afraid of you, faker! Bringing shame to the goddess and her saintesses carries a price! I will duel you for your insult to the goddess!" Fenni insisted, unwavering. "Tsk tsk, a duel, is it? So, the little liar wants to duel the big fraud?” Wenny teased. "You're the only fraud here! Last time, you managed to catch me on a technicality, but this time, you won’t escape!" Oh? Her intellectual prowess seems unusually sharp this time. Could someone be guiding her from the shadows? Wenny pondered briefly. That could very well be the case since every batch at Kariliman Academy typically has students with a strong church background, and the church folks generally don’t look favorably on him. It wouldn't surprise him if this fiery-haired kid had been instigated by someone to create trouble for him. "Honestly, I don't want to waste time with you brats because it's utterly meaningless," Wenny said, shrugging. "Ha, sounds like you're just afraid, right?" At that moment, a taunting, challenging voice emerged from beside him. Wenny didn't even need to turn to know it was that notoriously audacious golden-haired little elf. "Oh? Isn't it Milene? If I recall correctly, last time we sparred, you were nothing but one of my defeated opponents," Wenny remarked with a provocatively smirking expression. "Seriously, Miss Fenni from the church, if you want to challenge me, you need to get past this stage first. Miss Milene here, who ranked top five in the entrance exam, is already one of my defeated opponents." "Shameless human, if not for your despicable tricks last time, this princess would have pounded you into oblivion!" Milene protests indignantly. "Go on, redhead, you got it right. This guy is nothing but a façade, a flagrant example of underhanded deceit! He’s worthless except for his dirty tricks! Smash him hard," Milene encouraged, stoking the flames, wanting more people to trouble Wenny. Tsk, this bratty elf with golden hair hasn't learned her lesson from last time, has she? "Now you have the time, right?" Fenni pressed Wenny. "It's not class time, and being in the top fifty qualifies me to challenge you. You can't decline; otherwise, it'll cost you your rank, humph!" "Fine, little church girl. If you insist on embarrassing yourself publicly, I won't stop you," Wenny shrugged nonchalantly. "Hmph! To the arena, then!" Fenni declared, marching forward with Wenny trailing behind. With no choice due to the academy's challenge rules, any student ranked within the top fifty could issue a challenge to those ranked higher than them, except those in the top five. If the challenge succeeded, they could take the other's rank. This system ensured that high rankers couldn’t rest on their laurels, thus fostering a competitive spirit. Failure to accept a legitimate challenge resulted in losing one's rank. Wenny followed Fenni out of the teaching hall and into the arena. The arena wasn’t too crowded at present. After notifying the supervising instructor about the ranking seizure battle, the instructor recorded their names, and the two took their stands on opposite sides of the arena. Even though it was a typical, unremarkable ranking duel, the number of spectators was considerable. A certain golden-haired elf brat eagerly spectated from the stands, making faces at Wenny, wanting nothing more than to see him fail splendidly. Additionally, plenty of other onlookers gathered, likely curious because Wenny, one of the contenders, had quite a reputation, and many hoped to see him make a fool of himself. Wenny turned his gaze elsewhere and suddenly noticed a familiar black silhouette at a nearby arena. It was his former fiancée, Ishtiya. However, she didn't seem to have noticed him. 2025/05/11/21/55 Share this book: Quick Share to Sina Weibo QQ Space QQ Friends Baidu Tieba Tencent Weibo Baidu Favorites Baidu New Homepage Copy URL Vote Recommend Previous Chapter ← Chapter Directory → Next Chapter Add Bookmark New Book Recommendations: How Could the Villain Young Master Possibly be a Saintess?
