How exactly did you evade the background check?” Wenny eyed the male student, tilting his head slightly. “To have someone like you, who’s been devoted to Eurnes from a young age, get in here.” “What on earth are you talking about, classmate?” The male student remained with a look of shock and incomprehension. “What do you intend to do? Even if you speak a lot, making a move in front of the dormitory of Radiant Splendor, under the gaze of the goddess and the Saintess, won’t be justified!” “Enough, if you keep this up, I might really give you an award. There’s no third person here, who are you pretending for? Could it be for the sympathy of the goddess and the Saintess?” Wenny said impatiently, rolling his eyes and releasing a [Frozen Chain] at the male student. The male student quickly dodged, the icy chain struck the pillar beside him, barely avoiding it. “Heh.” Wenny sneered; a missed chain didn't suggest the male student had escaped. He retracted the chain, pulling himself toward the male student. Wenny's mastery over ice elements had grown more refined, exploring new techniques for the ice magic he knew. The [Frozen Chain] was far more versatile than he'd initially thought. Beyond restraining enemies, its greater use lay in repositioning himself, evading attacks, and rapidly approaching foes. Using the pillar to pull himself swiftly left adversaries defenseless. Wenny had no intention of wasting any more time on trifles, once he dragged this out for thirty minutes, that student would transform from [Sacrificer] to [Fanatic], at that time, wouldn’t he be torn apart by him? “You revolting being, looking at you makes me ill, die!” Wenny didn't intend to hold back, starting with a lethal move. [Frigid Moonlight Slash] In midair, Wenny gracefully spun, his spear blade shimmering with dazzling ice light, hurtling toward the male student like an ice-blue comet. The male student, suddenly confronted by the charging Wenny, froze, unable to dodge. He bit his lip, drew his rapier defensively. Sparks ignited on the rapier, colliding with Wenny’s ice spear. Facing Wenny’s aggressive ice magic, the male student wisely chose fire magic to counteract. Unfortunately, fire was the right choice against ice, but the level disparity in magic was undeniable; after melting some of the ice, the terrifying cold extinguished the flame. The rapier in the male student’s hand began to freeze, and soon it would be his hands’ turn. “Oh? A [Magic Swordsman]? Does that mean your magic aptitude is three stars?” Wenny raised an eyebrow. “With such a good magic aptitude, why take on the repugnant role of a pest.” “Fellow student, no matter how you slander me, it cannot legitimize your actions!” The male student bristled against the freezing cold, exclaiming angrily. “Wow, this acting, tsk tsk, if I couldn’t smell the scent on you akin to a decomposing corpse crawling with maggots, soaking in water, I might have believed you.” Wenny said coldly. “You can fool others but not me.” Wenny pressed forward, forcing the student into retreat, enclosing his steps in icy cocoons. “Calling me a Pillar of Demon God cultist? I think you might be the cultist yourself! Oh, I get it, you’re the wolf hiding among the flock, using the guise of ‘weeding out the cultists’ to harm other students….” The student glared ferociously at Wenny, seemingly struck with understanding. “You talk too much, perhaps it’s time to send you to meet your master,” Wenny said coldly. The fearsome ice elementals coiling around the [Frozen Fang] were about to engulf the student’s hands, and in desperation, he grew agitated. While the male student’s level was slightly higher than Wenny’s, [Frozen Fang] leveled the playing field, allowing Wenny to firmly dominate the male student. “Die, then I’ll eliminate every one of your remains in the academy.” With mere [Frigid Moonlight Slash] sufficing, Wenny opted against [Frozen Roar]; the sacrifice was too great, and the academy wouldn’t endure just one fight tonight. “Aaaah!!...” As the icy cocoon enveloped the student’s hands, those hands were rendered useless under [Frozen Fang]’s fierce cold. Wenny’s ice spear gripped his hands like a pit bull, binding them together and making escape impossible. “Damn you, you bastard!…” The male student fumed, spitting as he insulted Wenny, launching unnoticeable hidden needles towards his face. In the nick of time, glistening armor enveloped Wenny, and those needles, hitting his [Aegis], fell harmlessly without even sparking. “Oh, hiding weapons? Sneak attacks? No wonder people call you rats in the sewer, only capable of underhanded tricks?” Finding his hidden tactic thwarted, the male student felt out of options as his arms were soon to be frozen entirely, yet the final transition still needed a little more time. At this point, plainly, he couldn’t delay until the change was complete. “Huff, huff, so tired, where is this place?....” Just then, a third voice emerged, and a seemingly clueless male student wandered to the Radiant Splendor dormitory entrance, glancing around. Judging by his clear, foolish expression, it was evident he was a first-year student. When he noticed both combatants appeared to be students from Kariliman Academy, he faltered, then confusedly asked, “What are you two doing? Why fight now?” Wenny remained silent, unwilling to explain. He merely wished to swiftly handle the problem before him, expose the disguise, and reveal the red markings underneath, making everything self-explanatory. “Did you have any prior conflicts? Stop fighting! This isn’t the time for brawls; the outside’s gone mad, they’re saying Pillar of Demon God cultists attacked the academy, yet you’re in here fighting amongst yourselves…” Seeing neither listening, the male student hurriedly insisted. “Fellow student, I’m as confused as you. This guy attacked me without a word, branding me a cultist, I don’t know what’s happening?” The opposing male student spoke up innocently. “A clear case of a guilty conscience resulting in false accusations.” “You all… anyway, stop fighting!” The male student moved forward, intending to mediate. “You fool, stay back! Get lost!” Wenny snapped coldly. Yet even as Wenny spoke, the male cultist spat once more, this time aimed at the naive student trying to intervene. Wenny cursed under his breath. Those nearly invisible needles were potent, with uncertain toxicity, and seeing the clueless first-year student unaware, getting hit seemed inevitable. What a fool! Now Wenny faced two choices. One was to ignore everything and kill the nearly transformed Pillar of Demon God cultist before him, leaving the bewildered male student to his fate. The other was to abandon the cultist and attempt to save the naive and foolish male student, though success wasn't guaranteed. Wenny made his decision without any hesitation. "Move!" Wenny withdrew his magic, no longer binding the cultist, and struck him back with his spear, firing a [Frozen Chain] toward the clueless student who was still unaware of the situation. Fortunately, he was decisive enough, and the speed of the [Frozen Chain] outmatched that of the spikes. Just in time, Wenny intercepted, standing in front of the student before the spikes hit, their impact muffled by his thick armor, falling to the ground with a crisp sound. “What, what is this?” The student finally realized that the other male student had attacked him and that the armored figure had saved him. “What on earth is going on?” He felt as if his brain couldn't process the situation any longer. “...Didn't I tell you not to come over?” Wenny glared at the student before turning to face the cultist, who stood still, head bowed in silence. “I…I didn’t mean to…” the student mumbled, seemingly realizing that he had likely disrupted things. “Damn, when bad luck strikes, even drinking water chokes you.” Wenny shook his head, choosing not to chastise further since what was done was done. “Hehe, hahaha!” The cultist began laughing maniacally, his voice becoming warped and indistinct, as if turning into another creature altogether. He tore apart his clothes, revealing dark red lines like swollen veins on his skin, seemingly ready to burst. Wenny watched silently, aware that the conversion of this [Sacrificer] was now unstoppable. He sighed, still uncertain why he made such a choice earlier. He was supposed to be selfish; how could he compromise his own interests to save someone else?? Tch, whatever. Since he saved him, he must ensure this foolish guy escapes safely; otherwise, the rescue would be in vain. He simply didn't want anyone dying before his eyes. "You, get going fast." Wenny ordered without turning. “What's coming isn't something you can handle. If you want to return alive to see your parents, run, and notify the combat instructor.” “Oh, oh!” The student snapped out of his daze, realizing the monstrous threat before him. “What about you?” Before leaving, he couldn't help but ask. “Without someone blocking him here, do you think he wouldn’t come over and rip you apart?” Wenny pointed at the monster. “Oh oh!" “Wrong, actually, if not for me, I’d rush over and shred you both now.” The mutated cultist—now a creature of bulging red veins with horns and tendrils like a giant monster—smiled sinisterly. Standing at a towering three meters tall, it sneered humanly. “I’ve finally awaited this day.” The [Fanatic] marveled at his regenerated arms, testing their strength with fists capable of crushing skulls easily. “Escaping the fragile and weak human form, no longer pretending to be a naive sheep; embracing truth is quite invigorating!” “You must be insane. Instead of a decent life, you chose to become cannon fodder for the Pillar of Demon God,” Wenny retorted, shouldering his spear. “This is what you call a [Fanatic]? You're ugly, just hideous! What joy is there in becoming such a monstrosity?” The fanatic raised its head, tendrils lashing out to embed into the ground, propelling itself like a slingshot—a scarlet missile aimed at Wenny. The student fled from the dormitory in terror. The terrifying speed left no room for dodging, and with that knowledge, Wenny used [Ice Skin] on the spot. “Boom! Boom! Boom!” The red missile-like descent filled the air with smoke as Wenny was launched, slamming against a wall, only staying upright thanks to [Frozen Fang]. “Oh? Impressive, blocking my dive. Anyone else would have been in pieces by now.” The fanatic's rough voice held curious amusement. Wenny realized, had the fanatic used magic then? No, it was entirely physical force, yet despite the dual protection of [Ice Skin] and [Aegis], the physical assault shattered [Ice Skin] alone, forcing Wenny into the wall, blood seeping from his lips. Was this what it took to face a divine scion of the Pillar of Demon God—undefeatable even by masters? If his finest physical defenses couldn’t hold, the gulf between them was vast. “Earlier, you nearly crippled my hands, didn't you?” The fanatic crackled his knuckles maliciously. “Now, it’s my turn. I won’t let you die swiftly; I’ll yank out your fingers one by one!” With that, tendrils embedded themselves in the ground, straining his body like a slingshot. He lunged at Wenny with imperceptible speed, claws reaching for Wenny’s head. With such speed, Wenny couldn’t even cast [Frozen Roar], seemingly forced to resign. Clenching his teeth, Wenny finally noticed in the heat of battle that his Virtue stat had inexplicably increased. ‘Virtue +100.’ ‘Current Virtue: 304.’ What? What’s happening?? With the fanatic’s claw mere steps from Wenny's head, radiant golden light descended from above, forming a golden flame barrier between them, flinging the fanatic backwards. What was that?… The brilliance was so dazzling Wenny couldn't fully open his eyes, and as clarity returned, he recognized the noble barrier-like jeweled golden holy sword standing between him and the fanatic. Wenny was astounded. The identity of the sword's owner needn't be voiced. Standing gracefully atop the sword’s guard, with arms elegantly crossed, was a silver-haired girl with a black bow, her moonlit hair fluttering gently in the breeze, back faced to Wenny. 2025/05/12/22/00 Share this book: With one click share to Sina Weibo, QQ Space, QQ friends, Baidu Tieba, Tencent Weibo, Baidu Collection, New Baidu Homepage, Copy URL Vote for Recommendation Previous Chapter ← Chapter Directory → Next Chapter Add to Bookmarks New Book Recommendations: How Could The Villainous Young Lord Be The Saintess?
