Volume Two 44 ~ Epiphany Author: Han Tang's Return Last Updated: 2025/5/23 20:30:01 Word Count: 4028 "Praise the Saintess, praise the Goddess!" At the moment Vannesa returned to life, transforming into a six-winged being, the previously dead silent scene instantly broke into fervor. Cries of excitement rolled in waves, one after the other, not only because hope arrived amidst despair but also because Vannesa's wings had healed the wounds of everyone in the academy with particles of light. "See! Some people said I was exaggerating earlier, where are they now? Come out?? The light fragments casually dropping from the feathers can instantly restore flesh and bones, not even advanced healing spells can do that, is this not a goddess??" Someone immediately argued. "Your Holiness Goddess, did you hear the prayers of Your believers??" The loyal devotees of the church wept openly. "The Goddess always loves humanity, loves us!" Just then, a gust of black wind struck, and everyone simultaneously shielded their eyes as thunder echoed through the clouds, as if aiming to shatter the firmament. It was the roar of the Pillar of the Demon God. ‘Vannesa’ shielded herself with her wings, the light cast by her wings forming a solid barrier of light, protecting the people below. This scene resembled a goddess spreading her wings to shield her believers from the erosion of the Demon God Pillar. "So beautiful, truly so beautiful!....." An art professor, solely dedicated to fine arts, watched this from the sanctuary and became a devout believer of the Goddess of Sunsets. "I must create a painting of this scene later! It's simply too beautiful, if I don't complete this painting, it will be a lifelong regret!" The painter focused intently on the moment, desperately engraving the emotion and scene into memory, as if blinking would render him regretful for life. He wasn't the only one shaken; thousands who witnessed the scene were similarly moved. In fact, many students and professors at Caryleaman Academy had only a superficial belief in the Goddess of Sunsets, viewing her more as a symbol of humanity. Yet after witnessing such a grand miracle, few could remain unmoved, asserting confidence in their faith. "Long time no see, Tyrillis Continent." 'Vannesa' softly exhaled, gesturing as if caressing the familiar landscapes. "The same, long time no see, old 'friend' of the Fasyris family, after all these years, you've changed not a bit." 'Vannesa' observed with a smile, casting her gaze on the large, shadowy outline beyond the tentacles and the Gate of Sixfold Stars. In implication, it was akin to saying 'after all this time, you haven’t improved at all.' "Alright, you might find your outfit stylish, that's your own business, I don't have an opinion about it, but…" In the grasp of the six-winged angel, a fire of multicolored glass, core tinted pink, ignited. Unlike Vannesa's [Flame of Divine Blessing], Selena's [Flame of Divine Blessing] blazed fiercely, carrying a world-ending momentum. Compared to Vannesa’s saintly flame, merely a flicker, Selena’s was the genuine article, a true [Flame of Divine Blessing]. "You've bullied my charming descendant, seek to destroy the lent divine authority sealed in the Tower of Order, intending to upend the Tyrillis Continent and endanger all beings; I can't let that happen." As if none could comprehend the Pillar of the Demon God’s voice, save for 'Vannesa', her utterances were understood solely by Eurnes. The response was a surge of stormy clouds and crackling thunder. ‘Vannesa’ understood that it was the Pillar of the Demon God, in utmost anger, calling her name. Selena Fasyris. "Really, Mr. Eurnes remembered me, should I consider it an honor?" Nirvana ascended among Selena’s smiles. "This isn't your demon deity realm, the Tyrillis' [Rule] continually presses restrictions upon you; with just one tentacle in this realm, I can't kill you, but to 'ask' you to leave, that's a breeze, so, please depart before I resort to any unbecoming measures when sending you off." Lightning struck the barrier of light formed by the wings as Eurnes responded. "Why endure such strain? Isn't it making things challenging for us both?" Selena lifted her hand, and the [Flame of Divine Blessing] within her palm burst forth. Unlike Vannesa’s [Flame of Divine Blessing], useful only in close combat, Selena's cascaded like a fiery dragon, surging towards Eurnes’s tentacle. However, being the Pillar of the Demon God, Eurnes's tentacle shone with a blue-green radiance, its scales gleaming as it clashed with the [Flame of Divine Blessing]. The [High-Dimensional Realm] surrounding Eurnes's tentacle was obliterated by the [Flame of Divine Blessing], the scales roasted to cinders. Against the holy fire of the Blessed Angel, even the Pillar of the Demon God would be injured, might even perish. The distinguishing point being the Pillar could bear it for a while, whereas formidable servants or even demons are roasted quietly, accepting their fate with burning approval. Eurnes wouldn’t retreat though; after enduring so long, and seizing this prime opportunity, he was unwilling to yield it lightly. He believed that even if Selena manifested, it would be unstable, and when she could no longer hold her ground, victory would be his. His strategy was endurance; if he withstood the [Flame of Divine Blessing]'s searing, ultimate triumph would be his. Indeed, Selena’s temporary manifestation wouldn't last, this Eurnes didn't misjudge. However…… Selena seemed unfazed, as if she was confident in her success. Eurnes wasn't beguiled by Selena’s outward show; of all the Pillars, he'd interacted most with the Fasyris family. He was well acquainted with the temperaments among the descendants, they were veterans at theatrics and cunning, just like the ancestor they hailed from. Having been deceived numerous times, this time he was adamant against similar trickery. Eurnes resisted the scorching of the [Flame of Divine Blessing]; since his body was immense, it couldn’t be burned quickly enough, leaving only his roars and the sizzle of scorching scales audible. The Pillar of the Demon God extended a tentacle amidst the flames, intending to coil around the carefree firestarter Selena, yet the frontal part had been fully incinerated, and the tentacle extension lagged behind the swiftly advancing [Flame of Divine Blessing]. Eurnes couldn’t subdue Selena, and neither could Selena promptly incinerate Eurnes's entire tentacle; thus, a standstill ensued. Yet conquest wasn’t Eurnes's aim; as Selena stated, Tyrillis Continent wasn't the Demon God Pillar’s realm, the continent enforced multiple restrictions, barring its existence. Thus, a summoned Demon God Pillar could exercise limited power. Moreover, he had only one tentacle in Tyrillis Continent. For him, wearing down Selena was much easier than defeating her, and he was certain that Selena couldn't remain manifested for long. In fact, he could already sense the instability in Selena's current state and believed that, as things stood, the holy fire was far from enough to completely burn his tentacle. He had won. This time, he would successfully reclaim what was his and return to the throne of the Supreme God. The roar of the Pillar of the Demon God reverberated within the clouds, filled with spatial ripples accompanied by thunder and lightning. In a confrontation of this magnitude, spectators would be the most unfortunate, but fortunately, Selena had preemptively woven a barrier of light with her wings, protecting those below from the aftermath stirred by the enraged Pillar of the Demon God. The [Flame of Divine Blessing] illuminated the expressions of everyone present, brightening their hopes. Yet, at the critical juncture, the [Flame of Divine Blessing] ceased burning. Selena maintained her raised-hand pose but withdrew her force while Eurnes's tentacle still retained its mobility. Witnessing the silent angel with cherry-colored hair, Eurnes knew that this time, he was the one smiling at the end. Selena had exhausted all her energy in this world. The millennia-old struggle between Fasyris and him had ultimately drawn to a close with his victory. As long as he could destroy the Order Tower. However, why did that woman's face still hold such a confident smile? As if everything had already been decided?? She must be putting on a show, one more performance from this Fasyris woman. It's futile. Faced with impending failure, yet still carrying an air of triumph—did she not realize continuing the act held no meaning? "Well then, until next time, Mr. Eurnes, though I would like to say 'never again', I know that's impossible. Hope I still see you next time you visit." Selena waved at Eurnes with a taunting smile. Eurnes seemed to understand her intent, glancing towards the Gate of the Sixfold Stars. Not only Eurnes, but everyone else realized that Selena had another agenda. When their gazes shifted to the passage the Pillar of the Demon God had opened into Tyrillis Continent, they noticed the portal aflame with multicolored flames was nearly burned away by the [Flame of Divine Blessing]. Indeed, Selena's target from the beginning wasn't Eurnes; she never expected to incinerate Eurnes's tentacle. She merely pretended to aim for it, leading everyone to believe she intended a direct confrontation with Eurnes. In reality, while her holy fire swept over the scales of Eurnes, the tail of the flames redirected, burning towards the portal above the tentacle. Being in a blind spot perspective-wise, Eurnes failed to notice, and even the spectators' attention was entirely on Eurnes's tentacle, unaware that the Gate of the Sixfold Stars was gradually being seared away by the [Flame of Divine Blessing]. The [Flame of Divine Blessing], capable of igniting anything, could burn even the Pillar of the Demon God, let alone an energy structure like the Gate of the Sixfold Stars. Under Eurnes's helpless gaze, the 'ticket' he painstakingly created to enter Tyrillis Continent was rapidly incinerated and closed, along with his endless ambitions. Having endured a fierce burning of the [Flame of Divine Blessing] but failing to achieve his goal, it was indeed a massive defeat. The Order Tower, the lost divine authority, and the throne of the Supreme God—none of these were of Eurnes's concern at present. With the Gate of the Sixfold Stars symbolizing the Demon God Pillar nearing closure, what Eurnes needed to consider now was retracting his tentacle swiftly; otherwise, he might lose the limb. Though losing a limb wasn't significant for the Pillar of the Demon God—remaining in his realm for a bit could regrow it—it would still deplete part of his magnanimity. As a third of the scorched tentacle withdrew through the crack in the portal, calmness returned. Yet, it wasn’t entirely over. Staring at the sky tainted by corruption, Selena stood on high, her six immaculate wings spanning the sky. The angelic girl clasped her hands in prayer, closed her eyes, and her lips parted to sing an ethereal hymn unknown yet timeless in the eyes of those below. The melodious sound, like thrush singing from the valley, resonated throughout, harmonizing souls with its serene tune to regenerate the war-torn lands and withered soil. The dead sky seemed to revive anew, the dark clouds parting, creating a vast rift, retreating, while the earth's scars healed under the saintly hymn. Star particles and light from the six wings fell upon the sacrificial array, on the students turned Demon God Pillar minions; their calloused skin began to recede, regressing from demonic traits, gradually disappearing, their skin color returning to normal, and finally, their human features restored, collapsing to the ground in exhaustion. "Is that!?" "Her Holiness Goddess has restored the controlled students into humans!?" "Is this the Goddess's redemption??" "Praise the Goddess!!!" Genuine emotions of shock and gratitude led people to kneel, bowing their heads in reverent worship. The hymn's chapter reached its final notes. The angel, with cherry-colored hair, opened her eyes and glanced at the people below one last time. With a flutter of her wings, she soared skyward, becoming a radiant comet that descended into Saint Selena's Cathedral. "Oh dear, little Vannesa, what to do, I've found myself regretful." After landing in the Cathedral, Selena suddenly spoke, sounding regretful. 'What's wrong, Senior Selena?' All this time, possessing Vannesa’s body, Selena had left her essence watching from the side, clueless as to what Selena regretted. One way or another, this crisis was resolved, and upon witnessing the scene, she sighed in relief, though in her current state, sighing was more of an emotional response than physical. This time, it was truly thanks to her esteemed ancestor. 2025/05/25/21/35 Share this book: One-click sharing to Sina Weibo, QQ Space, QQ Friends, Baidu Tieba, Tencent Weibo, Baidu Collection, Baidu Home Page, Copy URL
