[Volume 5]: Chapter 17 - A Sweet Girl Won’t Be Fooled By The Villainess
Ah??? Ifia looked puzzled, wondering why things seemed odd. She glanced at Tiffany again. This time, when she looked, Tiffany's expression had returned to normal, still as pure and holy as ever. It seemed that the stern and disappointed look from before was just Ifia’s imagination. Ifia couldn’t help but continue to stare, which soon caught the attention of Taromati, standing beside Tiffany. Taromati turned to look at Ifia warily. Her emerald green eyes seemed to stand up like a provoked venomous snake, staring intently, ready to fend off any threats to protect her precious treasure. Just glaring wasn’t enough for Taromati; she raised her fist and shook it, clearly conveying a threatening intent. Before she could make another move, Tiffany glanced at Taromati with an indifferent expression. This made Taromati suddenly appear pitiful, like a drenched little puppy. But that was not all; an invisible magical force suddenly struck. Taromati let out a grunt, a pained expression showing on her face as she reached out and grabbed the black arrow lodged in her chest, crushing the magical force with a quick, forceful grip. Everything happened so suddenly. When Ifia saw the black arrow shatter, her eyes widened in surprise. Her heart raced with fear, worried that Taromati might die here! However, after the arrow disappeared from Taromati's chest, she seemed unharmed. At least she wasn't dead. Ifia turned her head to look at Amelia, who was sitting across from her, elegantly consuming dumplings. Later on, Noticing Ifia's gaze, she raised her eyes. Her seemingly violet eyes sparkled like gemstones. She intentionally asked, "Why aren't you eating?" With her obedient look, as if she hadn't done anything, Ifia was speechless. It seemed that now that her demonic identity had been exposed, Amelia had no intention of hiding it anymore! This person! How dare she commit violence in public! Amelia, you need to restrain yourself! Reluctantly, Ifia had to remind her that even though she was a demon, she shouldn’t act so arrogantly! Although she knew Amelia was venting for her, it all started because she had glanced at Saint Tiffany a few times, which made Taromati jealous and angry. Moreover, there were quite a few church clergy here. If they were found out, it would be bad. Saint Tiffany was very powerful. She hadn't even passed the probation period, and Ifia wanted her to remain faithful now? "It's all right; Taromati is a demon, and she won't die." Now, Ifia was truly speechless. Who could understand?! In this day and age, demons are now pursuing saintly figures like Tiffany? Ifia had previously been worried about the outcome of her and Amelia's interracial romance. Now, it seemed like there were those who were even more skilled at stirring up trouble than them! Regarding Taromati being a demon, Ifia doubted but wasn't sure. After all, the first time she met Taromati, she appeared in the villa as a friend of Amelia, with a very composed attitude. However, Amelia quickly provided an explanation, saying they were just partners. Not close. Now, looking back, this was indeed a lie! Thinking of this, Ifia gave Amelia an exasperated glare, thinking that setting a probation period was indeed the right thing to do, otherwise she could have been easily deceived! Ifia's frustration turned into appetite, and she casually took a bite of a sweet dumpling. She didn't really want to bring up anything about demons right now. But she was still curious. Her gossip-loving soul was burning, and despite her efforts to resist, she couldn't help but ask, "Amelia, isn't Taromati afraid of being discovered by the saint and then getting in trouble?" This kind of love-hate relationship between opposing factions really made her eager to gossip! Amelia, knowing Ifia's personality, was not surprised by her question. She patiently explained, "Saint Tiffany had long discovered that she was a demon. In fact, Taromati has never hidden her identity and is dedicated to staying by the saint's side." Ifia, excited, blinked her eyes. She had been about to ask for more details when Amelia stuffed a dumpling into her mouth, and then said with a smirk, "Ifia, I don't like it when you mention other demons; it makes me jealous." This made Ifia chew her dumpling in silence, thinking about jealousy. Amelia would end up drowning in vinegar sooner or later. Not mentioning Saint Tiffany and Taromati again, Ifia made an effort to swallow the dumpling in her mouth. She then looked at Bise, the butler, flitting around like a butterfly, and suddenly remembered the Count Dule who had been "killed" by Amelia. Stirring the sweet soup around her dumpling with a spoon, Ifia hesitated. Although she had temporarily forgiven Amelia's deception, she felt that getting involved in matters between demons seemed a bit dangerous! But if she didn't ask, she felt uncomfortable. "Ifia, do you have something you want to say?" While Ifia was hesitating, Amelia naturally noticed. She stopped eating, and with a gentle gaze, she encouraged Ifia to speak. Seeing this, Ifia felt a little reassured and asked, "The demon who possessed Count Dule, was he really expelled by the church clergy? And now that he's dead, what will happen next?" "He wasn't successfully expelled. As for what happens next, I'll have another demon impersonate Count Dule so that no one else finds out." With Amelia's affirmative response, Ifia furrowed her brows slightly. She hadn't forgotten that the Count Dule, who had previously gone insane in front of everyone, had suddenly returned to normal! Could it be some plot or scheme by the demons? Ifia looked up at Amelia, her dark eyes waiting for an explanation. "The demon unrest in Dalva City, has to do with the Barren family auctioning demon plants. Whether publicly or privately, it's necessary to quickly suppress the unrest. But the church's dem Amelia, under Ifia's scrutiny, didn't appear flustered. Instead, she smiled slightly and calmly gave a reasonable explanation. It made sense to Ifia, but something still didn't seem right. She just couldn't pinpoint what wasn't right! Continuing to express her doubts, she asked, "Amelia, I heard Count Dule call you 'Great Sovereign.' I'm guessing your position among the demons is quite high. Can't you make the demons in Dalva City leave?" If Amelia could swiftly quell the disturbance, it would be a good thing for the people of Dalva City! "No, even if I am the Great Sovereign of the demons, there are always rebellious demons who intentionally act up. If some demons come together, I might get hurt." "Is that so! Amelia, then let's not bother about it anymore. Let the professionals handle the demon expulsion. We can just watch from the sidelines." Ifia immediately shook her head upon the realization that Amelia might get hurt. Good demons like Amelia weren't a match for the bad ones. She didn't want Amelia to get hurt! All Amelia could do was nod in agreement. Her violet eyes shimmered with fractured light, and a smile played across her lips.
