838 Watch the battle between Yuna and the big monkey Lydia's point of view - Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear
Yuna was battling a giant ape all on her own while being attacked by countless red apes. She was surrounded by the red apes, yet she fought to allow us to escape. She cast a fire spell, but the giant ape deflected it with a sword. "Amazing!" Yuna narrowly dodged the giant ape's massive sword. One hit from that colossal sword, and it would be over. It was terrifying. I couldn't even stand in front of the giant ape; I'd be too paralyzed to do anything. Yet, Yuna faced it head-on and fought bravely. Even someone as weak as I could see how incredible her actions were. As her body spun, the giant ape was sent flying. I couldn't grasp what had just happened. "What...?" "Yuna twisted her body and kicked the giant ape away." Mane informed me. Could she really make such a massive body fly with a kick? Yet before my eyes, the giant ape was kicked backward and rolled across the ground. "Just how much training does it take to accomplish something like that?" I could never do it. My brother and Mane might not hear the giant ape's voice, but I could. When the giant ape screeched "Kikikiki," the red apes lunged at Yuna en masse. She summoned a gust that lifted the red apes into the air. Raising such a powerful wind was beyond my abilities. Yuna raised her arm and unleashed magic toward the airborne red apes. They fell to the ground, pierced by something. "What kind of magic is that?" Something transparent shot from Yuna's hand. It wasn't earth magic, nor fire, nor wind. I thought perhaps it was water, but Mane spoke another word. "Ice." "Ice?" Ice magic... Few use it in battle due to its difficulty in control. If you need something solid, earth magic suffices. And it's much easier to imagine earth than ice, making ice magic less common in combat. "Why use ice magic?" "Only Yuna, who's fighting, would know." Maybe ice magic is Yuna's specialty. The red apes attacked her again. As before, she stirred up a whirlwind and lifted them into the sky. Despite the sheer number she faced, Yuna maintained dominance. At this rate, she might just win. Her fight inspires such hope. She aimed to unleash an ice spell at the apes airborne. "...!?" From our distant vantage point, we could see it. The giant ape was charging toward Yuna. Unaware, she continued looking up. "Yuna!" Mane let out a small cry. Despite it being impossible for her to hear, Yuna lowered her arm and cast ice magic at the giant ape. Did she notice? However, the giant ape sliced through the ice with its sword, blocking the attack. Before that thought registered, Yuna stood before the giant ape. She stomped on its descending sword and kicked at its head. The giant ape caught the kick with its hand, effortlessly lifting Yuna's body with one hand. Just as I thought she was about to be slammed down, Yuna slipped free from its grasp. It happened in a flash — too fast to comprehend. The exchange between Yuna and the giant ape was unbelievably swift. But Yuna didn't stop moving. As the red apes plummeted to the ground, they lunged at Yuna once more. Once again, she sent them skyward with wind magic. The whirlwind seemed to flicker with a yellow light, though Yuna hadn't attacked, and the fallen red apes ceased moving. "What did she do?" "No idea. Perhaps she used some magic." "I mean, what kind of fight is that?" "This is the battle of a top-tier adventurer..." It's a realm I'll never reach, no matter how hard I try. A realm only the elite can attain — the battle between Yuna and the giant ape. The giant ape swung its sword wildly, and Yuna narrowly dodged. Her dagger flickered like the whirlwind earlier. This wasn't the time to be distracted by that. Yuna was being cornered by the giant ape's assault. She barely managed to dodge and fled backward. "That way!" She didn't notice it was a cliff. As the realization hit, Yuna disappeared from view. "Yuna!" Yuna had fallen off the cliff. The giant ape followed suit. I tried to rush to her but was held back. "Brother." "Don't move." "There are still red apes." At their words, I noticed. Despite Yuna having taken down many, about ten red apes remained. "Kuu~n." Kumayuru and Kumakyuu stood tall, brimming with determination. "What's wrong?" "They're saying they'll handle this." "I'm worried about Yuna. Let's go." We all nodded in agreement with my brother's words. We headed to the area where Yuna and the giant ape had clashed. Yuna, please be safe. As we made our way to the spot, the red apes began leaping off the cliff, seemingly in retreat. We ran. As we neared the edge, Kumayuru and Kumakyuu let out two sorrowful cries of "Kuu~n." Could it be? Yuna... We hurried to peer over the edge. To our relief, we saw Yuna still fighting the red apes below. Seeing her, a sense of relief washed over me. What was Kumayuru and Kumakyuu's earlier sorrowful cry about? "Look, the giant ape is eating the Goblin King." I searched for the giant ape. It's true; it was consuming the Goblin King. How disgusting. Just as I tried to avert my gaze, the inside of the giant ape glowed. "Didn't the giant ape's insides just glow?" I saw it too. But why would its insides light up? "Mane..." My brother and I looked over to Mane, who was peering through a telescope. "There were two glows. This is just speculation, but perhaps it was the magic stones of the giant ape and the Goblin King." "Magic stones..." "I'm not sure what effect it might have, but the giant ape's physique seemed to enlarge." "Enlarge...?" "In other words..." "It might have gotten even stronger than before." As if it wasn't strong enough already. The giant ape moved faster. There's no way anyone could match that. "This is bad." The giant ape grabbed Yuna and hurled her. She rolled across the ground and came to a stop against a tree. The hopelessness of the scene gripped everyone. But even while staggering, Yuna rose again. Relief flooded in at her survival, but it was clear she couldn't continue. Yuna, please run away. "It's my fault for asking her to bring me here..." Mane watched with clenched teeth as Yuna, wounded, continued to fight. She wanted to yell out, telling her to stop and escape. But even running away from that giant ape seemed impossible. Yuna kept fighting. Despite her small stature, she was combating a massive ape all on her own, repeatedly slashing at it with a small knife. "It's not your fault, Mane. I came along because I wanted to. If it had only been you and Yuna, you both could have escaped by riding Kumayuru and Kumakyuu. Because we’re here, Yuna had to fight the giant ape..." Because we were there with her, Yuna was now risking her life. "Kumayuru, Kumakyuu, forget about us. Go save Yuna." "Kuun." Kumayuru and Kumakyuu shook their heads. "Why not? Your beloved Yuna is in danger." "Stop that. They must want to go to Yuna. But they're following her orders to protect us." "But if this continues, Yuna..." "Hold back your tears. Yuna is fighting to let us escape." When the giant ape attacked, Yuna didn't hesitate to prioritize our safety, charging towards the giant ape. People's true intentions come out during emergencies. Many, faced with danger, will push others aside to save themselves, but Yuna wasn't like that. She acted without a moment's hesitation. "If you want to save Yuna, then you must be the one to act." "Me...?" I'm weak. I can't fight. I'm too scared even to approach. I realized just how pathetic my words sounded. I was doing nothing, relying on Kumayuru and Kumakyuu while trembling in fear. "Then let me—" "If you go, it would just be a death wish." "But... the same applies to me." It's the same. Even if I tried going to the giant ape, I'd be killed without being able to do anything. "You have wind magic and a bow, don’t you? Aim from here." Mane placed her hand on my arm. "From here." Aiming at the giant ape from the top of the cliff. The distance was great, compounded by its quick movements. "I can't, it's impossible." "Then, are we to watch in silence as Yuna is killed?" Yuna would die. "You have a gift for wind magic. Hear the sound of the wind. Envelop your arrow with it." Mane's words penetrated my heart. I took a deep breath. I didn’t know if I could do it, but it was better than abandoning her. If I could distract it, maybe Yuna could escape. I resolved myself. "I'll do it." As I grasped my bow, Yuna was struck away again. The giant ape had swatted her with its tail. But Yuna stood back up. Don't cry. Crying won't help Yuna. Tears blur vision. Holding back my tears, I used wind magic to convey a message to Yuna. "Yuna, lure the giant ape over here." I wasn't certain if she heard, but I focused on preparing my bow. It was a fleeting chance. Don't miss it. The standoff between Yuna and the giant ape began. Yuna moved gradually. Don't avert your gaze. Watch carefully. Yuna wielded her knife. Not yet. Their movements were incredibly fast. I wrapped the arrow in wind. Yuna cut through the ape’s tail, enraging it. The ape attacked, but Yuna evaded. The giant ape raised its arm. At that moment, I released an arrow. Without waiting to see the result, I nocked another arrow and focused on the giant ape. The first arrow struck its eye, yet the ape continued to assault Yuna. With a clear mind, I shot a second arrow. If it started moving erratically, there wouldn't be another opportunity. Now, while Yuna kept it in place. She slashed at the ape's neck, but it didn’t falter. I adjusted the arrow’s path with my wind magic. Please hit. The wind-imbued second arrow also pierced the giant ape’s eye. It was over. Yuna immediately plunged her knife into the ape's chest.
