Chapter 38 - Self-Rescue Manual of a Villainess

Chapter 038: Fire Merge "Tap ... Tap ... Tap ..." The sound of leather shoes stepping on the wooden floor finally awakened the young girl on the bed. Xia Yiyi struggled to raise her eyelids, her gaze falling on the man standing before her. In his haste to bring her here as quickly as possible, Xia Jun had used a drugs, and even now, she felt as though her vision was clouded. Her thoughts were as chaotic as an overturned bowl of paste, and even her hearing was affected. "Miss Xia Yiyi, did you sleep well?" Shangqi's lip curled in a slight smile as he regarded the bewildered girl. "Who… who are you?" Xia Yiyi clenched her teeth in an effort to stay lucid before managing to utter these words. "Who I am isn't important, is it?" Shangqi shook his head, "Do you still feel dizzy? Do you need me to call a doctor?" "…Where am I? I want to go home… I…" Xia Yiyi's words were still somewhat garbled. Shangqi had to move close to hear her clearly, and when he grasped her meaning, he couldn't stop laughing, "Miss Xia Yiyi, you can't return." “……” This time, Xia Yiyi did not respond, simply looking up at the man. "Your father already sold you to me. The price...three bags of the newest spiritual drugs." Xia Yiyi wasn't sure if she was hallucinating, but she felt a thread of irony in both Shangqi’s expression and words. “Cough, cough… they…I disagree… you can't…” Xia Yiyi, who had grown up in the slums, knew what it meant for a girl to be sold to rich people like this. But she understood very clearly that for just three bags of drugs, Xia Jun was indeed capable of something like this. "You disagree? That’s not something I would consider." Shangqi squinted his eyes, "Your father has already taken his share, which means you're now mine." "A doctor will be here soon. I hope that by the time I return, you will have taken a bath." Shangqi took a few steps back, nonchalantly pointing at the adjacent bathroom. Observing the girl, helpless and sitting on the bed, he felt no pity. In his eyes, it was a fair deal. The parties to the deal were him and Xia Jun, with Xia Yiyi merely serving as the merchandise. After all...he hadn't forced her, had he? Casually closing the door behind him, Shangqi headed for the first floor of the clubhouse. The two suited men who had been waiting at the door quickly entered the room. "Pff…" The sound of a needle sinking into flesh echoed. ……………………………………… As Shangqi descended the winding staircase, he was greeted by several gang members standing at the ready. "Young Master," an elder in a dark Tang suit approached, bowing slightly. "What happened to prompt Uncle to send you over?" Shangqi glanced at the advanced mutants following the elder and asked casually. "Chen Yi, the Police Chief of the Heaven Boat Security Department, is leading a team of superpower forces towards the mansion," the elder promptly answered. "Chen Yi? He seems familiar..." Shangqi rubbed his chin, showing neither doubt nor fear due to the situation. Indeed, the Heaven Boat Security Department boasted one of the strongest superpower forces in Heaven Boat. But so what? The people his uncle had sent were not easy to deal with either. "Uncle..." Shangqi looked up at the elder, Li Fa, a member of the Dragon Gate Gang and a seasoned butler. There must be instructions from his uncle if he got involved. "The Master said if it's due to some minor issue, Young Master should step back for now. That Chen Yi could be tricky. Of course..." the elder's eyes gleamed, "If Chief Chen insists and gives us no other choice, the Master has this to say: the Dragon Gate Gang is not a place anyone can act recklessly." "Eight soldier-level deaths ready at Young Master's command.” "Hehe... If Uncle says so, then I'm at ease." Shangqi grinned, tapping his ability-suppressing ring. "Steward Li, shall we go and meet Chief Chen now?" ……………………………… The black police convoy arrived, without alarming sirens or preannouncement, at the Shang Residence. Thanks to forewarning, they faced no obstacles. Chen Yi and his team had easy access to the underground car park. Upon reaching the destination, Nan Yin admired the officers in black cloaks and deep blue uniforms stepping out of their vehicles. She couldn’t help commend Chen Yi’s resources. On the way there, the police cars had joined up with Chen Yi’s from all directions. Nan Yin had to admit their efficiency was impressive. “Chief Chen...isn’t this, uh, overkill?” Su Xiaoyu, who had arrived with Nan Yin, looked at the surrounding officers invoking martial law. He swallowed hard. The Heaven Boat Security Department’s powerful officers could easily rival the elite Imperial Guard of The Saint Emperor of the Gaojing, Su Xiaoyu thought. And Chen Yi had brought along thirty of them at the drop of a hat. Had he come prepared for a firefight? “Su Xiaoyu Student…do you know what kind of entity the Dragon Gate Gang is?” Hearing Su Xiaoyu’s exclamation, Chen Yi adjusted his hat and said in a grave tone. Su Xiaoyu didn’t reply, and Chen Yi didn’t explain. Instead, Nan Yin took out two pistols which still smelled of gun powder, drawing an intrgue look from Chen Yi. However, before he could ask, corner parking lights in front of the lot turned on all at once. The sudden brightness made the police react instantly. Chen Yi quickly pulled Su Xiaoyu and Nan Yin behind a police vehicle for cover. Chen Yi frowned deeply and looking up, saw an intimidating display: six military trucks bearing serious firepower—all manned by armed Dragon Gate Gang members. But the apparent threat didn’t faze Chen Yi because, apart from Nan Yin, everyone present on his side boasted high-rank superpowers. Even Su Xiaoyu was a genuine beast-tamer, registered under the Beast Master Association. What was most concerning were the ominous shapes in front of the trucks. Shangqi regarded Chen Yi and the rest, who seemed ready for war, and chuckled. He signaled for the trucks to turn off their high beams, and the lot’s white parking lights came on instead. "Superintendent Chen Yi, why all the drama? Imagine what the taxpayers of Tianzhou City will feel when they see the law enforcement officers they've painstakingly funded with their taxes looking so pathetic?"
