2-81 - How Could the Villainous Young Master Be a Saintess?

Volume 2, Chapter 81 – Purpose How many of Nine-tailed Snow's tail hairs did he pull out last time? Wenny couldn't quite remember, but he knew that Nine-tailed Snow had never before experienced such severe humiliation in her entire life as the Nine-tailed Fox King and the Succubus Queen. Not only was she collared like a pet fox, but the most embarrassing moment of having her tail hairs mercilessly plucked was also eternally captured with an image crystal. Putting himself in her position, anyone who suffered such treatment would harbor murderous intent unless they were a saint. Had he completely offended Nine-tailed Snow to death? Wenny couldn't imagine how spectacular it would be if he transformed into Vannesa in front of her. Moreover, this was certainly not something he could let his subordinates know about. Otherwise, the majesty of Nine-tailed Snow as a queen would be thoroughly tarnished, and for the only person aware of and responsible for this black history, Nine-tailed Snow would undoubtedly want to eradicate him. Thus, Wenny was certain that if he dared mention even a single word of it, Nine-tailed Snow would tear him apart on the spot, ensuring he couldn't be resurrected, and then cut off his head to kick around like a ball. Wenny swallowed hard with a gulp. He definitely couldn't transform into Vannesa. If he dared to do that, whatever slim chance he had would be completely extinguished by his own hand. He reminded himself to stay calm. In times of crisis, only by adopting the enemy's perspective could he hope to rescue himself. He needed to remain calm! So, the question arose: why had Nine-tailed Snow come here? Wenny wasn't sure if Nine-tailed Snow ever came here in the original story, but according to the original, Aesphyra hadn't encountered Nine-tailed Snow in the early stages. As he recalled, the first meeting between Aesphyra and Nine-tailed Snow ended in animosity. The reason was that Aesphyra, with her penchant for beauty, couldn't restrain herself upon seeing the incredibly alluring Nine-tailed Snow and made some flirtatious comments. Nine-tailed Snow wasn't offended; she simply viewed it as a challenge from this human, leading to a fierce battle that lasted three hundred rounds without a clear winner. Although Nine-tailed Snow had a higher realm and was confident of victory, she couldn't decisively defeat Aesphyra, resulting in a stalemate. The key issue was that Aesphyra, while fighting, continued to flirt with Nine-tailed Snow, never ceasing in her attempts to seduce her opponent with eloquence and precision, making the already challenging situation even riskier. To flirt with such a formidable opponent while maintaining precision in battle tactics was an extraordinary skill, indicating that perhaps she truly was destined to build her own harem. Why, then, had Nine-tailed Snow, supposedly embroiled in internal demonic struggles, come to the human realm? It couldn't possibly be just to stir up trouble for a tiny human village, could it? That was utterly impossible. Were the future demon king and her elite team really going to expend their efforts on a mere human village? What was Nine-tailed Snow's motivation for focusing her strategic efforts on the northern continent? Was it truly because Aesphyra's aura was so problematic that it magnetically drew Nine-tailed Snow in like a magnet? Wenny felt he had hit a blind spot. Nine-tailed Snow's reason for such large-scale action was baffling. Thinking along these lines, Wenny sensed there could still be a way out, perhaps even a path to survival. Furthermore, Wenny noticed that many of Nine-tailed Snow's close aides seemed more focused on the surviving Succubus subordinates than the two humans, especially the red-haired Succubus. This, too, was a peculiar phenomenon. Hence, Wenny silently moved closer to Aesphyra. During such times, it was surely safer to be near an ally, and his best bet was to stick with Aesphyra. "My Lord!" Upon seeing Nine-tailed Snow in person, the red-haired Succubus was nearly brought to tears, kneeling and crawling forward as though to bow at the queen's feet. However, before she could reach her, a grand duke Succubus beside Nine-tailed Snow kicked her away mercilessly. "Huh??" Wenny scratched his head upon witnessing this, feeling his mind was once again overloaded. What was going on? Was it infighting? Or was this a customary 'greeting' among the Succubus family from subordinates to superiors? Not just him; Aesphyra also frowned slightly at this sight. Despite his own perplexity, Forcus lay on the ground, his mind consumed with thoughts of escape, not wanting to dwell on these matters. As for any allegiance he might have formed under the influence of the red-haired Succubus, in the face of death, who would remember such things? Wenny glanced at Aesphyra and continued to quietly watch the drama unfolding before them. "A disobedient scoundrel, do you have the audacity to kneel before Her Majesty the Queen? Do you deserve it?" The grand duke Succubus who kicked the red-haired Succubus, wearing ear piercings, looked down upon her with disdain and scorn. And the other fox demon officials and grand duke Succubi offered no response, their gazes coldly directed at the red-haired Succubus. As for the subordinates of the red-haired Succubus, most of whom had never even seen a grand duke Succubus, let alone the queen, they were thoroughly terrified and knelt in silent fear. Disobedience?? Upon hearing this, Wenny furrowed his brow. There was indeed an underlying truth here. "Dis... Disobedience, Lord Flora, I have not..." Even after taking a heavy kick, the red-haired Succubus dared not show defiance; her attitude was even more humble and submissive than before. It was completely different from the unyielding demeanor she had displayed earlier when speaking to him and Aesphyra. "Not? If not, then why are we here? Why is Her Majesty the Queen here? Anelis, do you think we are all as idle as you, you scoundrel?" The ear-pierced grand duke Succubus seemed to be called Flora; at this moment, she stood with arms crossed, looking down with coldness and contempt. "Or, Anelis, do you think your status and importance warrant the collective attention of so many grand duke Succubi and even Her Majesty the Queen, who have set aside their duties to come here personally to rescue you?" Flora said icily. "There's only one answer to this." Flora stepped forward, using her black high-heeled boots to lift Anelis's chin. "We are here to send off a traitor who defied the queen's orders on her final journey." "Your... Your Majesty?" Anelis looked in disbelief at the cold and indifferent Flora, before focusing on the elegantly adorned white-haired, fox-eared girl, surrounded by the demon crowd. "Anelis, who authorized your appearance with your subordinates in the human village?" At this moment, Nine-tailed Snow's voice rang out, beautiful as always, carrying a bewitching smile lacking warmth. "I, I..." Anelis fell silent. "Who permitted you to wantonly incite conflict and massacre human villages, attempting to drag us into a human war?" Nine-tailed Snow's voice, though casual, carried great weight. While she spoke, not a single fox demon official or grand duke Succubus dared to interrupt, fearful that any noise might disrupt their queen's address. "T... That... Your Majesty, I, I thought..." "Anelis, you know I don't want vague justifications like 'I thought.' Answer my question," Nine-tailed Snow interrupted Anelis's speech. "At this crucial time, you provoked conflict with a target we should not be confronting now. Do you realize this makes you a 'traitor'?" "I?? I..." Upon hearing the word 'traitor,' Anelis's face turned ashen with fright, lips devoid of color, knowing well that the demon clan held zero tolerance, even negative tolerance, for traitors. Once labeled as such, it truly was the end. "And for 'traitors,' even under the most lenient demon lords, the sentence is death," Nine-tailed Snow said, playing with her nails painted in a wine-red hue. "In light of this being the first occurrence, coupled with the current extraordinary times, I believe we should set an example for the entire demon realm, demonstrating to everyone what the consequences of defying orders during wartime are," Nine-tailed Snow's first few words gave Anelis a sliver of hope, but the latter part of her statement extinguished that hope entirely. "Anelis, prior to this, your family has already been detained and awaits verdict—all because of your personal actions," Flora coldly declared. "Defying military orders, going against the queen's wishes, and recklessly initiating other conflicts during wartime, Anelis, according to our demon realm's laws, each of these charges is enough to earn you death several hundred times over." "Lord Flora..." Anelis gazed at Flora in complete despair. "Don't call my name. I don't have such a foolish and disgraceful subordinate!" Flora replied with disdain. "Utterly incompetent!" "Listen carefully, Anelis, you have only one choice left." With that, Flora threw an unsheathed dagger, embedding it into the ground in front of Anelis. "This is a poisoned dagger. You know what you need to do, don't you?" "Your next move will directly decide your family's fate," Flora issued her ultimatum. "Will you choose to depart with dignity, or without it?" "...I understand." After a long moment, Anelis trembled, her lips quivering as her hands shakily picked up the dagger Flora had tossed to her. "I'm sorry, Her Majesty. I'm sorry, Lord Flora, I have brought shame upon you..." "This was all my doing; please don't let it affect my family." With those words, Anelis set her resolve and used the poisoned dagger to slit her own throat. Blood oozed out, the poison turning her face an unnatural shade as she spasmed a few times before collapsing to the ground, lifeless. "Disgraceful," Flora remarked, casting a glance at Anelis's lifeless form. "Your Majesty, the traitor has been executed. What now?" Flora asked. "Gather all those succubi who knowingly followed Anelis's orders against her majesty's orders and ensure they are all captured. Once we return, publicly execute them to set an example for everyone to see," Nine-tailed Snow commanded without batting an eye. "As you command." Flora accepted the order, glancing at Anelis's former subordinates, whose legs buckled beneath them in terror. "You had better confess truthfully now, to save me the trouble of extracting it later." "If I find out you lied to me, your punishment will be a hundred times worse, a fate worse than death. Understand?" The low-ranking succubi and dream demons nodded fervently. "Now, dispose of your former leader's body and bring it back to the realm." Wenny and Aesphyra watched the entire scene silently, saying nothing. Wenny didn't even dare swallow. He was pretending to be invisible, fearing the moment when the attention of the succubi and fox demons might shift back to them. So, it was just about dealing with a succubus defying the queen's orders. He had blown it out of proportion in his mind. As he thought, Nine-tailed Snow wasn't so petty or interested in humans that she would choose to attack them at this point. All along, it was Anelis's defiance, bringing her subordinates into human territory to stir up trouble, even bewitching a priest of the church to incite war with humans—none of which was Nine-tailed Snow's intention. This incident was what led Nine-tailed Snow to come personally with so many confidants, likely to show her inner circle the consequences of insubordination. It had scared him half to death, thinking Nine-tailed Snow was there to back up her subordinates, when she had only come to execute a traitor. That meant he and Aesphyra were irrelevant to this situation, right? It had nothing to do with them. They should be able to leave. Wenny gave Aesphyra a look, signaling that this matter didn't concern them, and they should quietly slip away. Better to leave before the execution was over and they were noticed as outsiders. Wenny took the lead, carefully stepping back to leave, gesturing for Aesphyra to follow. "Additionally, Your Majesty, what should we do with the bag of trash and the two tasty little rabbits present?" Then Wenny heard Flora speak. "?!" Wenny heard it, but he pretended not to, acting like it had nothing to do with him or Aesphyra, and hastened his steps. Then... A spell of deep water magic flew past him, narrowly missing him. What the... was that...? Wenny turned around abruptly, discovering that Nine-tailed Snow had extended her hand in his and Aesphyra's direction. It was clear that the spell had been deliberately aimed off-course. Whoa?! Wenny quickly patted himself down, relief washing over him only once he confirmed that nothing was missing and he was unscathed. Pfft, that was weak. If that was Nine-tailed Snow's attempt at magic, and both he and Aesphyra emerged without a scratch, then it was pretty lackluster. It seemed Nine-tailed Snow wasn't as formidable in her prime state as believed, just as... "Boom!" A thunderous crash behind him froze Wenny's expression. He turned mechanically to see a previously unknown, deserted mountain behind him—now collapsed. The entire upper half of the mountain had vanished without a trace. Wenny's initial shock turned to wide-eyed horror, his pupils contracting. What??? What the hell??? It was painfully clear: Nine-tailed Snow had intentionally missed. He was unscathed, but the mountain behind him hadn't been so lucky, having been sliced clean through. 2025/06/27/21/31 『Bookmark for easy reading』 Previous Chapter | Directory | Next Chapter
