After all, a mere mid-level succubus couldn't possibly have the audacity to deceive and challenge both the king and other powers; there must be someone higher up pulling the strings," Wenny walked away as Jiuli Xue contemplated aloud, unsure whether she was speaking to Aesphyra in front of her or her subordinates around. "Who would've thought there would be an unexpected gain," Jiuli Xue glanced at Aesphyra, her lips curving into a mysterious smile, leaving no doubt about what this unexpected gain referred to. "I assumed the human 'Hero' would be a brawny, rugged uncle with protruding biceps, but who knew it would be a delicate and jade-like silver-haired girl instead," Jiuli Xue observed the holy sword in Aesphyra's hand with mischievous red fox eyes filled with amusement. "I didn't expect the leaders of the Yokai Fox Clan and Succubus Clan to be such a breathtakingly enchanting beauty either," Aesphyra gently brushed aside the strands of hair near her ear, smiling elegantly and confidently. "It would be wonderful if our first meeting wasn't so awkward or if we weren't adversaries; we might have more in common to discuss, don't you think?" "Indeed, it seems the thoughts of Miss Hero align with mine; we certainly are fated to meet," Jiuli Xue's smile deepened. "Oh? Is that so?" "Miss Hero, I am Jiuli Xue, daughter of the King of All Yokai Foxes and the Queen of Succubi, now the leader of the Yokai Fox Realm and Succubus Realm. May I know your name in return?" Jiuli Xue asked with a coquettish smile. "Of course, how could I not respond when such a lovely fox lady asks for my name?~" Aesphyra grinned. "My name is Aesphyra Galetus, from an insignificant noble family, hardly worth introducing." "Miss Galetus, despite our differing factions and races, I do feel a sense of destiny connecting us. The web of fate has led us to cross paths here; isn't this fate's own design?~" "Oh my~? Fate's design, you say? So, Miss Jiuli Xue, am I to understand that this is your bold confession to me?" Aesphyra tilted her head, her smile brimming with amusement. "Human, watch your tone!" One of the succubus nobles held her arms and frowned at Aesphyra's impudence. "Oh? A confession? … Well, if Miss Galetus considers my gesture as such, you're free to think so," Jiuli Xue responded without anger. "As Miss Galetus mentioned earlier, we share similar thoughts. I've also pondered how wonderful it would be if we weren't opposing forces, without the necessity to wage war?" Jiuli Xue continued speaking to herself. "So, what are you suggesting, Miss Jiuli Xue?" "Earlier, Miss Hero hinted about playing along with me, and I'm delighted with that. However, allow me to set the rules of the game." "Miss Galetus, why not follow me from here on out?" Jiuli Xue made the suggestion casually. "Currently, I'm reluctant to start a war with humans, so I came here to eliminate these provocateurs with my followers. Yet, it wouldn't be wise to let a future formidable foe off the hook." "Uprooting you would be too regrettable and wasteful. How about this? We reach an agreement: Should you agree, I'll let you leave afterwards. How about it?" "An agreement? What kind of agreement?" Aesphyra tilted her head, intrigued. "It's simple, Miss Galetus. You promise to heed my orders wherever and whenever I require your service," Jiuli Xue explained slowly. "Oh, just a verbal promise then?" Aesphyra knew it couldn't simply be that—considering Jiuli Xue's position, there had to be more to it. "Certainly not. Miss Galetus must guarantee in person her loyalty and," Jiuli Xue produced a peculiar pill from her pocket, "you must consume this under my supervision." The pill was of the same type she had previously attempted to force Vannesa to swallow. "Miss Jiuli Xue doesn't seem to trust in mere promises, does she?" Aesphyra raised an eyebrow in question. "Not at all. I am willing to trust Miss Galetus and everyone I form agreements with. This is merely a precaution, considering both humans and demons are fickle creatures. It's responsible to account for all uncontrollable possibilities for a promise, don’t you think?" Jiuli Xue explained charmingly with a foxy grin. Needless to say, the pill wasn't anything good, and Aesphyra couldn't use tricks here—Jiuli Xue would undoubtedly ensure she ingested it before granting her freedom. "What, unwilling?" Seeing Aesphyra speechless, Jiuli Xue raised an eyebrow slightly. She wasn't worried about Aesphyra attempting to flee, as not even a teleport scroll could save her. No matter how far, she'd track her down. Besides, any sudden move from Aesphyra would prompt her to act instantly. For a warrior of her caliber, even a twitch from her opponent wouldn't go unnoticed. "How disappointing, Miss Galetus. You initially seemed so eager, yet now it's such a letdown. Does being my servant displease you so much? Do you realize how many in the demon realm would kill for this opportunity?" Jiuli Xue toyed with the pill, slipping into a manipulation tactic. Recognizing Aesphyra's attraction to her appearance, Jiuli Xue decided to use her allure as a weapon. "Seems I need to turn up the heat, offer you some incentive," Jiuli Xue's eyes flashed cunningly, and her seductive red eyes radiated an irresistible charm, like a spring welling over, drowning Aesphyra. Jiuli Xue blew a kiss in Aesphyra's direction, striking her cheek with a resounding pop in the form of a heart. Aesphyra's pupils tightened as the chaotic magic within her surged out of control. Upon reopening her eyes, she found herself submerged in a mire called bliss, her vision swirling with rosy hues. It wasn't her first encounter with a succubus's charm, yet with her mental resilience, enchantments and illusions had little hold. At least, not if she wished them not to. However, Jiuli Xue's seduction surpassed any ordinary succubus, exceeding the expertise of all past Queens of Succubi and Kings of All Yokai Foxes. Possessing both Yokai Fox and Succubus royal bloodlines, she magnified their allure exponentially, making one plus one far surpass two in effect. Aesphyra's gaze turned muddled, her amethyst-like eyes a whirlwind of chaos. "Alright, stop hesitating and come to me~" Jiuli Xue curled her lips, beckoning Aesphyra with a finger. Aesphyra, clouded in confusion, lowered her brows slightly and lifted her heavy foot. Just as her heel was about to touch down, the pendant on her chest gleamed brilliantly, followed by a shattering sound—it dimmed, and several burnt scroll fragments fell from her body and turned to ash. A glimmer of clarity crossed Aesphyra's dim gaze. Holding her head, she managed to snap back to coherence, instantly checking her pendant and the scrolls she carried. The top-tier mental resistance pendant shattered completely, and the scrolls for mental defense reduced to ash, showcasing the terrifying extent of Jiuli Xue's allure. "Oh?" Jiuli Xue's eyes showed a hint of surprise as she eyed Aesphyra, but a trace of a smile quickly followed. "Miss Galetus, you don't quite seem the ordinary noble from a minor household you claim to be." Jiuli Xue was well-acquainted with humans, and even the scions of noble families found such precious resistance accessories luxuries beyond reach. Gifted with protective treasures and scrolls from the Galetus family, and also crafting some herself, Aesphyra possessed powerful defenses. "So, Miss Galetus, does that mean you're rejecting my proposal?" Jiuli Xue smiled, an unusual gleam sparkling in her eyes. "I'm sorry, Miss Jiuli Xue. Perhaps, had it been in the past, I might have considered your confession. But unfortunately, you're not quite my type—or rather, you're quite far from the type I prefer. So, please forgive me for refusing," Aesphyra smoothed out her disheveled hair, displaying a graceful smile once more. "What a pity. Without sincere commitment from Miss Galetus, we cannot formalize this agreement, rendering this pill pointless," Jiuli Xue expressed regret. "In that case, I guess you'll have to remain here forever." As soon as she spoke, Jiuli Xue revealed numerous fox tails from under her garment. Instantly, six ice pillars formed, hurtling toward Aesphyra. This was a spell called [Frozen Greatsword], but Jiuli Xue had unleashed it sixfold at once. Upon close inspection, the ice magic appeared darker in color, unlike typical light-colored spells. Aesphyra grasped her holy sword, her elegant, silk-wrapped leg pressing into the ground as she advanced, moving nimbly along the incoming ice pillars, swiftly closing the gap with Jiuli Xue. "Oh? Fascinating." Typically, ice pillars would explode on contact, releasing a powerful burst of ice elemental magic. Yet, Aesphyra gracefully navigated them, much like a dragonfly skimming water. Jiuli Xue immediately discerned the trick—Aesphyra applied wind magic at her toes, neutralizing the ice magic using magic itself. Effortlessly deploying magic without incantation requires tremendous skill. Indeed, she's somewhat clever and talented, but considering the holy sword chose her as its hero, such abilities are to be expected. A lion utilizes all its strength to hunt a rabbit, and Jiuli Xue never toys lightly with her prey. Nothing in her upbringing taught her to take enemies lightly; her harsh experiences instilled the importance of knowing an enemy's strength and responding with appropriate force. Had she ever underestimated an adversary, Jiuli Xue knew she wouldn't have survived this long. The onlooking foxes and succubi quietly observed without interference, aware of their queen’s preference for uninterrupted battles. Only on her command would any dare disrupt Jiuli Xue's pursuits. Moreover, was their intervention necessary? Any hint of concern would imply disrespect toward their queen's prowess. Those ice pillars were merely an appetizer. Jiuli Xue's next spell, upon raising her hand, became a certain kill. Her fox tails flicked with a gesture, unleashing a mass of water that transformed into a wild oceanic force. A storming, dark blue behemoth-like surge rose, crashing furiously toward Aesphyra. Facing this tremendous wave, houses and villages appeared tiny. The sky darkened with swirling clouds, and tumultuous waves roared, evoking fears of an apocalyptic deluge. Aesphyra instantly recognized the notorious massive spell. [Rage-scale Ocean Burial] A renowned and devastatingly destructive spell in history, the creator of which had famously wiped out a small nation, leaving other innocent nearby countries devastated by ensuing floods. The destructive reach of this spell on the continent is horrific; should it form, not only Lek Village but surrounding towns and major cities would be submerged! Aesphyra's expression turned grave; she had no magic to counter such devastation now. Even considering survival, in the engulfing tsunami, no refuge awaited her. She was mere speck before the encompassing waves. "Boom boom boom!!!" The monstrous waves pawed down, consuming everything in relentless torrents. After defeating the enemy, just before the waves would submerge the village, Jiuli Xue gestured to halt the overwhelming tide. The roaring waves seemed paused mid-action, then reversed as if time had flown backward, morphing back into a tranquil water ball that Jiuli Xue reabsorbed into her hand. Seamlessly released and retracted. Restoring a spell to its initial state is several times more challenging than casting it, akin to the disparity between destruction and rebuilding. This maneuver required disassembling all the runes composing the spell and reversing them in precise order. [Rage-scale Ocean Burial], with its complexity involving thousands of characters, was executed and retracted by Jiuli Xue in mere moments. Returning to calm as if nothing transpired. Enemies' remains vanished without a trace. Ordinarily, this would be the case. Yet Jiuli Xue sensed it was far from over. As she reversed the spell, heat flared behind her. A flaming phoenix sword cut through the air, shrieking its fiery wrath as it slashed toward her. Under circumstances where the enemy should have been obliterated, such an unexpected move should have caught her completely off guard. But Jiuli Xue feigned ignorance, crossing her arms over her opulent bust, while her tail raised defensively, forming a deep blue water shield that quenched the approaching fire phoenix. "You shouldn’t attack from behind, Miss Hero," Jiuli Xue teased without turning. "It seems the secrets you hold are more than I imagined." The Ocean Burial should not have missed, yet somehow it did? What an intriguing puzzle. However, imbued with the instincts of a formidable master, Jiuli Xue keenly sensed the secrets Aesphyra concealed.
