2-91 - How Could the Villainous Young Master Be a Saintess?
Volume 2, Chapter 91 ~ She's Still Holding a Grudge! How Could the Villainous Young Master Be the Saintess? Well then, this white-haired little loaf seems to think that I used some mysterious magical scroll or alchemical potion from Vannesa. After all, Aesphyra has always harbored this uncertain guess: that Vannesa and he are acquaintances. Ah, so she's pegged Vannesa as his personal Doraemon. "What do you mean by 'someone you know'? I have no idea what's going through your breadhead. To tell you the truth, for several days, it's just been you and me in this godforsaken place. There hasn't been anyone else, and I don't think anyone with a choice would want to live in such deep wilderness," Wenny spoke with confidence because everything he said was true—he hadn’t lied, naturally. "So, really, no one else has been here?" Aesphyra continued her inquiry. "I've answered you so many times; if you ask me again, I won't respond next time, alright?!" Wenny replied irritably. "Enough already, you're seriously injured, yet you still have so much to say. Go to sleep!" "Wait." "Tsk, can't hear you, can't hear you, whatever you say, I can't hear, I'm already asleep!" Wenny mumbled, covering his ears. "I'm thirsty." "...Tsk." Remembering that Aesphyra hadn't had a drink for several days, Wenny had no choice but to get up and use one of the only two wooden cups left in the small wooden house to pour her a glass of water. "Is this water clean?" "No, it's not. I got it from the creek, didn't even boil it. Drink it every day, diarrhea every day. Drink it if you want, or don't," Wenny retorted, rolling his eyes. As she took small sips, Aesphyra gave the impression of a little cat drinking water. After a few minutes, Aesphyra finally finished, while Wenny, feeling exhausted, placed the water cup down and lay on the floor. "Okay, is that it? If you call for me again, I really won't get up," he yawned. Wenny had been busy the past few days while Aesphyra was unconscious, and was exhausted. This time Aesphyra didn’t call him again, and once Wenny closed his eyes, he fell asleep, waking up the next day late in the morning. Getting up groggily from the floor, he felt his back ache from the hard floorboards. Sleeping on the floor just can't compare to a bed. It's really unpleasant. Wenny thought somewhat nostalgically. It's late, time to go hunting and dig up some wild vegetables. After all, there's an incapacitated person at home waiting to be fed. However, speaking of meals, Wenny suddenly thought of a serious problem. He could help Aesphyra eat and drink, but what about long-term? Aesphyra must have metabolism; she has to use the bathroom, right?? What should he do about that?? By the way, what time is it now?? "Sniff, sniff sniff..." Just as he was pondering, Wenny suddenly caught the scent of meat, which immediately woke up his taste buds, bored from several days of rabbit meat and wild vegetables. Eh?! Who's cooking?? The smell seems to be coming from outside. Speaking of Aesphyra... Wenny turned to where the wooden bed was, only to find Aesphyra had disappeared from it; she was no longer lying there. Ah? Stunned for a moment, Wenny got up and pushed the door open, only to find smoke rising from the barren land outside. The roasting rack and iron pot had somehow been moved outside. In the pot, wild boar meat was boiling, with some unidentifiable wild vegetables floating on top. Wenny was astonished to see this scene, his eyes naturally falling on the graceful figure cooking the meat. Just yesterday she was lying weakly on the wooden bed, and now she had regained her poise after recovering her mobility. One must admit, when someone looks good enough, anything they wear can become fashionable. Even in harsh conditions, Aesphyra's school uniform, stained and tattered as it was, managed to make her look immensely elegant and poised, adding a unique charm to her presence. Aesphyra is up and about?? Wenny was somewhat surprised. Just a moment ago, he was still wondering what to do if Aesphyra remained incapacitated and if her recovery took a long time. Judging by the situation, she seemed to have recovered by this morning, likely slipping out quietly to hunt once she was able to move, and had even moved the grill outside while he slept to prevent the noise of the meat cooking from disturbing him. This white-haired little nut had always been detail-oriented in her actions. "You're awake?" Hearing the door open, Aesphyra realized Wenny had woken up. With her arms crossed, she turned to look at him. Her enchanting violet eyes seemed to hold a magnetic allure, making one reluctant to look away. Who knows where she had procured a comb, but it seemed her hair had been groomed that morning, looking especially smooth. "...You're able to move now? When did this happen??" Wenny asked. "When did it happen? Hmm, let me think. I guess it was when I was woken up by the thunderous snores of Wenny this morning," Aesphyra replied, tilting her head. "Hey, hey, don't slander me. This young master sleeps with elegance, so there's no way I snore. Don’t speak nonsense," Wenny protested immediately. He never had the habit of snoring, and this insufferable little white-haired loaf just couldn't help but start discrediting him as soon as she recovered. "Oh? Really?" Aesphyra looked at him with a playful glint in her eye. "Are you sure, Wenny?" "If you're mistaken, there might not be any breakfast for you, Wenny," she teased. "Sure, I'm sure!" Wenny bit out, momentarily pausing before pushing back. Alright, he hadn't shared a room with anyone else, so he wasn't sure if he snored. Aesphyra’s statement sowed doubt even in him. No, it can't be, right? Having never snored in two lifetimes, could he have developed such a habit in this one?? Ah, please no! Wenny was internally repulsed by the mere thought of such a habit; it was terribly inelegant. "Oh." Aesphyra looked at him with amusement for a while, before finally turning away under his nervous gaze. "The meat is done; come and serve yourself, Wenny." Really? So she was just teasing him? And he actually believed her. Tsk! First thing in the morning, I've been fooled by this white-haired loaf. "Speaking of, your recovery was quite fast. You were so badly hurt before that I thought you were a goner, but once your consciousness returned, you were back on your feet overnight," Wenny commented, glancing at Aesphyra. "It's okay. Recovering mobility isn't that hard." Her words reminded Wenny, though Vannesa's holy light treatment likely meant there wouldn't be any long-term issues for Aesphyra, it wasn't guaranteed. Considering her internal injuries were due to the improper use of her bloodline ability, [Sacred Blessing], it might be prudent to research whether he could concoct some potion to eradicate any potential heart aftereffects. Absorbed in thought, Wenny stood still for a long moment before recalling something. "Wait a minute, if I remember correctly, there's only one set of cutlery in the cabin?" Wenny inquired. "Here, I carved these this morning for temporary use," Aesphyra said, handing a set of wooden forks and plates to him. "Ah, so you're good at woodworking too?" Wenny marveled at the finely smoothed wooden cutlery. "Is there anything in this world you can't do?" "It's not hard; just learn a bit and you can do it," Aesphyra replied casually. Classic humblebrag. Ah, never mind. Whenever he felt like a complete failure compared to Aesphyra, he reminded himself she was Aesphyra, the destined protagonist, and it didn't seem so bad after all. Approaching the pot to take a look, Wenny noticed the pork had been cleaned thoroughly, with no trace of blood—completely different from his own rough attempts. "Speaking of which, what are these wild vegetables you put in? I've never seen them before. Are they safe to eat?" Wenny asked, puzzled about where Aesphyra had managed to find them. "Wenny, you just need to focus on eating. Don’t worry about anything else." "...I'm afraid the food you cooked might be too terrible to eat," Wenny remarked. Without any seasoning, how can anyone make something edible? Wenny served himself a large piece of pork, let it cool, and then took a bite. The pork was tender, devoid of any gaminess, and had a subtle, pleasant aroma. It seemed these wild vegetables had greatly enhanced the taste of the pork, making it quite palatable even in such basic conditions. "So, Wenny, how does it taste?" Aesphyra asked, her eyes twinkling with a smile. "It’s good... okay, I guess. Just a bit worse than mine. But, well, it’s not too bad," Wenny replied. Despite knowing the truth in his heart, his pride couldn't resist having a few jabs, especially when it came to admitting anything to Aesphyra. "Oh, really?" Aesphyra, accustomed to Wenny's stubbornness, simply smiled teasingly. "If you like it, have some more. There's plenty in the pot," she added. Wenny buried his head in the meal. Honestly, Aesphyra seemed capable of everything, and he couldn’t find anything she wasn’t proficient in; even her cooking skills were top-notch. If only her preferences were normal and she wasn’t the protagonist of destiny. Ah, what was he even thinking?? This is bad! He must have been starved senseless, to even entertain such ideas about Aesphyra. Was he courting disaster?? "Chomp chomp, by the way, why aren’t you eating?" After digging in with feverish gusto, Wenny suddenly realized that Aesphyra had no intention of joining the meal. Instead, she stood there with her hands behind her back, smiling and watching him eat, which made Wenny feel both puzzled and uneasy. "I already ate," Aesphyra replied, tilting her head. "Wenny, you woke up so late, I had breakfast ages ago." "Oh." Upon hearing this, Wenny didn’t press further and continued eating, but the more he ate, the more something felt off. It wasn’t the food, but rather Aesphyra’s gaze, which increasingly made him feel uncomfortable. What was going on?? Wenny stole a glance at Aesphyra, noticing that her eyes were fixed on him, filled with a peculiar amusement that hadn’t wavered. "Uh, well," Wenny put down his plate, pretending to look for a toothpick to hide his embarrassment. "Wenny, full yet?" Aesphyra asked sweetly, her voice tickling like a feather. "Uh, uh, not yet, not yet," Wenny replied, shrinking into himself. "Oh, then keep eating, make sure you’re full." "Okay, I will." Wenny sensed something was very wrong. After a short while, Wenny set his plate down, swallowing his saliva. "Wenny, are you full yet?" Aesphyra asked once again. "Uh, almost, I guess," Wenny answered uncertainly. "Oh, then you should rest a bit." "Uh, okay." Wenny pursed his lips, feeling that Aesphyra’s overly gentle tone held something she was brewing, which wasn’t quite right! With this thought, Wenny felt he couldn’t remain passive anymore and quickly stood up. No, he had to leave! "Wenny, where are you going?" "Uh, Aesphyra, I’m full. Just gonna take a walk," Wenny replied weakly, turning to find Aesphyra gently stroking the blade of the holy sword. "Uh, Aesphyra, why do you have your sword out? There’s nothing dangerous around here, right?" Wenny gulped, feeling a chill at the back of his neck but still forced himself to ask. "Oh, nothing much, just sharping it," Aesphyra smiled. "Sharpening? With what?" Aesphyra merely smiled, saying nothing. Whoa! A foreboding feeling surged up within him, and Wenny felt panic as he realized something was very wrong. Suddenly standing up, he prepared to leave. "Wenny, have you rested well?" "Uh, yeah, I’ve rested enough, I'm going for a walk..." "Oh, had a good rest? Walking? Let’s go together," Aesphyra’s laughter seemed deeper upon hearing him. "No, really, there's no need! I prefer walking alone." "Oh dear! Wenny, there's a really nasty bug on your head!" "What?! A nasty bug?!" Wenny flinched and began to pat his head but found nothing there. "Uh, where is this bug?" he asked cautiously. "No need to worry, Wenny. I'll help you get rid of the nasty bug, just don't move, alright?" Aesphyra said, smiling as she approached with her sword. It was clear to Wenny now that Aesphyra was teasing him and not serious. What bug? Just say he’s the bug! "No, no, there's no need to trouble yourself, Aesphyra. I can handle it!" Wenny retreated a few steps. "Not at all, it's no trouble between classmates," Aesphyra said, still smiling, as she approached quickly with her sword. "No, no! No need... aaaaah! Help, somebody! This white-haired brat is going to kill me!" Wenny shouted, mixing his steps in a panic and running aimlessly. "Be careful not to fall, Wenny!" Aesphyra’s voice was marked by jest as she followed in hot pursuit with her sword. "If you’re worried about me falling, then stop chasing me! You narrow-minded shorty, serves you right staying stunted! You're still holding a grudge over previous events, aren't you?? You said you'd let it go, but now it’s payback time, huh?!" Wenny yelled in distress. "Wenny, you shouldn't say things like that. I'm just trying to help you with that bug on your head." "So, I'm the bug, right?!" No wonder Aesphyra kept asking if he had eaten and rested enough, only to be followed by a sprint marathon! In this manner, the two dashed forward, one chasing and the other fleeing, sprinting out of the unnamed forest. Aesphyra wasn’t serious, the whole chase marked by laughter. Each time Wenny slowed down, she’d gently nudge him to instill a sense of urgency, pushing him to run faster, leaving Wenny breathless and blushing with exertion, not daring to stop. Had anyone seen this, they'd think it was a donkey being driven. ‘Conduct +300.’ ‘Current Conduct: 2064.’ Who knows how long it went on before Aesphyra seemed to have enough fun and finally stopped, while Wenny lay on the ground, gasping for breath like a fish out of water. On this entire journey, it felt like his rear was kicked to the point of swelling. As for Aesphyra, she sat by the creek, rinsing her mouth repeatedly.
