2-100 - How Could the Villainous Young Master Be a Saintess?
Volume Two, Chapter 100: "How about you come back with me?" Author: Han Tang Returns Updated: 2025/7/16 20:30:01 Word count: 4021 As expected, the golden-haired elf had a tough time. Even among heroines blessed by fate, there are differences in their fortune. Walking out of the arena, Wenny stretched and felt his entire body in high spirits. The tense and exhilarating semester was finally over. The next day would mark the beginning of a delightful vacation. Wenny shielded his eyes from the high-hanging sun. Although his academic scores weren't the best, with the bonuses from practical assignments and battles, his overall performance for the semester wouldn't be too shabby, and he could at least maintain his ranking. It was time to start planning what to do during the break. Ah, finally, a break from being tormented by that white-haired dwarf. Carrilliman Academy had minimal holiday assignments, almost none, to ease the stress from the intense daily studies and competition. Typically, wealthy young masters would think of traveling or returning to their family villas for pure enjoyment. Wenny was indeed supposed to return home, but his home lacked a villa, only housing a ramshackle hut and an abandoned courtyard. There was no one waiting for him there, not even a little dog. Nothing there held his attachment; his so-called birthplace was just filled with scorn and exclusion. In essence, he was homeless, so whether he went back or not made no difference. The only holiday benefit seemed to be sleeping in every day. Unfortunately, he couldn't play cards with his friends since they all had families to return to. After one semester, especially with such significant events at the academy, they would certainly want to reunite with their families. With the final exams thoroughly over, and no more classes scheduled, students with confidence in their results began to leave. Those who didn't want to ruin their break with academic anxiety didn't wait for their grades and left quickly. Wenny lingered not to await grades but because he had no place to go. A choice between returning to a broken home with no relatives or staying at Carrilliman, which catered to various backgrounds by not closing during breaks, remained. It wasn't just him; another who stayed behind was a certain silver-haired faux-boy elf. "Wenny, most people have left; aren't you packing your things? Need a hand?" Shikondell tilted her head, seeing Wenny languishing on the sofa. "I'm in no rush." Wenny lay there gazing blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought. "Are you staying at the academy this semester, Shikondell?" "Yeah, I'm homeless too, right?" Shikondell's brows knitted at the mention. "The world—leaving innocent poor souls homeless—ought to be ashamed," Wenny commented, glancing at her. "...Thank you, Wenny," Shikondell forced a strained smile after a pause. 'Virtue +60. Current Virtue: 4414.' Did she really thank him? Wenny stayed silent, knowing he wasn't a plot-blessed protagonist. The system bestowed luck, yet carefulness remained paramount. If possible, he wished to help Shikondell and the unlucky moon elves, yet realized he could only offer kind words without action. "Wenny, are you in a bad mood today?" Shikondell asked. "But it's the end of exams; aren’t you headed home to family?" "I have no living family," Wenny pondered before responding. Shikondell, while aware of his background, seemed clueless about his family’s fate. "Oh, sorry! Sorry!" Apologizing profusely, Shikondell glanced at Wenny's serene expression. 'Virtue +100. Current Virtue: 4514.' "It’s nothing, you didn’t know," Wenny shook his head. Time healed the deepest wounds, rendering remarks like these inconsequential now. "I'm sorry, Wenny." Shikondell slowly raised her head, understanding Wenny was much like her—alone in the world without a single blood relative. 'Virtue +200. Current Virtue: 4714.' "So, are you going back this break, Wenny?" Shikondell inquired. "I’m undecided, perhaps tending the courtyard where my family once lived might be proper," Wenny replied with uncertainty. Truthfully, he wasn't sure about going back, though staying wasn’t a bad option, especially with Shikondell present. "Really?" Hearing this, Shikondell couldn't help but hope they might spend the break together. "I’ll think about it." Rising, Wenny bade her farewell, deciding to go for a walk. Yesterday, the academy streets bustled despite ongoing exams, but today they felt empty. Naturally, with families waiting, students flocked home, weary of the semester, eager to escape the academic atmosphere. Likely, Aesphyra was on her way home, bound for the Gellatos family estate instead of Camilla’s capital. Wenny recalled encountering Aesphyra earlier, post-breakfast when he mused over leaves falling, pondering their return home. "Are you reminiscing, Wenny?" A familiar, melodious voice caught him off guard. "Why are you still here?" Wenny glimpsed the smiling silver-haired girl. "I was leaving but spotted a lonely raccoon amidst travelers," Aesphyra tilted her head. "Rubbish, I’m far from lonely, and resemble no raccoon! This young master’s far better looking," her playful jabs pulling a reaction from him. "Why the anger? If you missed me, I could stay with you," Aesphyra teased. "Ridiculous! Who'd miss you? Seeing you every day would shorten my life!" Wenny retorted, knowing her dramatics were purposeful exaggerations. "Tsk, you with the white hair and small nut, hurry up and leave! I don’t want you to be an eyesore," Wenny snorted. "So, is this the last 'white-haired little nut' I’ll hear this semester from Wenny?" Aesphyra asked with a smile. "What, you've become addicted to being called that? Alright, I can call you that anytime you want," Wenny glanced at Aesphyra. Aesphyra chuckled softly, her delicate eyes closing slightly as the wind played with her silver locks. The scene was beautiful beyond words. Wenny was momentarily stunned, and when he realized it, he quickly averted his gaze. When he looked back again, the silver-haired girl was no longer in front of him. The shimmering silver of her hair brushed past him, its scent of roses and violets lingering, stirring his heart. "Wenny, you should prepare to head back too. After all, that's your home, and someone is waiting for you to return," Aesphyra’s voice trailed as she walked away. Someone? Waiting for him? Wenny paused for a moment, guessing that Aesphyra assumed Vannesa would return with him. Aesphyra likely believed he wasn't truly alone and still had a family member to rely on. But in truth, that figure didn’t exist. Well, time to move on. "See you next semester, Wenny." "Huh?" Wenny was caught off guard, a sudden farewell from Aesphyra seemed to linger in the wind, yet she was almost out of sight when he turned back. Had he misheard it? Possibly, or maybe he hadn’t. "That white-haired nut is probably on the carriage now," Wenny shook his head, though unsure of what he was lamenting. Despite his constant grumbling about how seeing Aesphyra marked the end of his beautiful days and being glad to finally not see her during the break, he unexpectedly found himself missing her when she was gone. Remembering their shared tales from the past practical exams brought a smile. "That girl... truly infuriating," Wenny muttered, a ghostly presence lingering even after departure. Aside from him and Shikondell, he hardly knew anyone else still at the academy. His card-playing buddies had already left. Sauntering aimlessly through the academy streets, Wenny went where his feet took him. Passing by the student council hall, he noted how it had quieted down with the break, only a few people left. Leaning against the council courtyard wall, he aimlessly gazed at the sky. "Wenny? What are you doing here?" "Hmm?" Wenny recognized the familiar voice immediately. He turned to find a blonde girl with twin tails, Mirexia, standing at the student council entrance, managing several boxes of luggage. "Mirexia?" He was initially surprised she was still at the academy, but figured she must be finishing up some last tasks. Hence, he bumped into her. "Have you just finished your work?" Wenny inquired. "Yes, just completed the paperwork from the practical assessments," Mirexia confirmed, typical for the workaholic to stay late. "What are you doing here?" Mirexia’s turn to ask. "Nothing much, hoping to run into you here," Wenny joked, though he intended to say he was just wandering aimlessly. "You waited here just for me?" Mirexia blushed at the thought. 'Virtue +100. Current Virtue: 4814.' "Haven’t you gone home yet?" Mirexia questioned. "No, I don’t see the necessity," Wenny sighed. Mirexia understood, aware that unlike her family, Wenny had none. "Wenny, why don’t you come home with me?" Mirexia suggested. "Home?" Wenny looked at her. "Yes, my father might want to meet you, have some words." "The king?" Wenny was taken aback, unsure what Camilla’s royalty needed from him. However, knowing Mirexia's family correspondence with the kingdom, it made sense. Thinking it over, Wenny realized if Camilla’s king requested an audience, he must oblige. Firstly, as the reigning monarch, and secondly, Camilla had genuinely supported his family immensely.
