227 - We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?
### Chapter 227: If It's For You, I Won't Be a Monk Anymore After Wangxin helped Xiao Mo dispel his ominous energy, Xiao Mo attempted once again to persuade Wangxin to leave, not with the threat of a blade but with heartfelt advice. As Xiao Mo anticipated, Wangxin did not leave and continued to follow him. Though Wangxin appeared extremely frail, even when mistreated by Xiao Mo, she would simply sit quietly, without expressing anger or resentment. However, deep inside, Wangxin held a stubborn resolve that was ingrained in her very being. Xiao Mo noticed that ever since he spoke certain words to her, Wangxin had become more silent than before and often appeared absent-minded. Sometimes, when Xiao Mo paused, Wangxin would continue walking until she bumped into a tree, at which point she'd clutch her head with tears brimming in her eyes. Xiao Mo couldn't figure out what was on Wangxin's mind. Whenever he asked her, Wangxin would merely shake her head continuously, refusing to speak. Not long after, Wangxin gently tugged on the corner of Xiao Mo's garment, her clear eyes blinking at him. "What is it?" Xiao Mo turned to ask. "I... I want a knife," Wangxin said timidly, a hint of tension in her eyes. Xiao Mo paused for a moment. "Why do you need a knife?" Wangxin continued to gaze downward without answering. Seeing her demeanor, though deeply puzzled, Xiao Mo didn't press further. He simply retrieved a black dagger from his storage pouch and handed it to her. "This dagger was crafted for me by my junior sister. I've never used it. It's yours now." "Oh... uh-huh," Wangxin nodded, holding the dagger with a contemplative expression. "Is there a problem?" Xiao Mo asked, "Is this blade unsatisfactory?" "No, that's not it." Wangxin shook her head and looked up, blinking her eyes. "Xiao Mo, do you have a junior sister?" "Yes, not long after you left Blood Night Peak, Xue Kui brought her back. Why?" "It's nothing." Wangxin shook her head again. "I could tell your junior sister was very dedicated when she crafted this dagger." "Who knows?" Xiao Mo turned and walked ahead. "The dagger is sharp, so be careful." Night gradually enveloped the sky. Xiao Mo casually found a small clear area on the mountain, lit a campfire, and closed his eyes to rest. Unbeknownst to him, Wangxin had disappeared. Still, Xiao Mo was unconcerned. Given Wangxin's level of cultivation, those who could harm her were few and far between. Not to mention, she carried a protective artifact given by the abbot of Empty Thoughts Temple, making it challenging even for Xiao Mo to harm her. Around midnight, rustling sounds emanated from the bushes opposite the campfire. As Xiao Mo opened his eyes, he saw Wangxin emerging from the bushes, cradling a female rabbit. The rabbit's front paws draped over Wangxin's arm, belly exposed, its hind legs hanging in the air, looking bewildered and unresisting as it was held by her. "Why bring a rabbit? Planning to roast it for me?" Xiao Mo asked out of curiosity. "No, not at all..." Wangxin jumped in surprise and quickly turned away, fearing Xiao Mo might sprinkle cumin on the rabbit. "Not to roast for you." Seeing her anxiety, Xiao Mo didn't pursue further and closed his eyes again. Noticing Xiao Mo bore no ill intent toward the rabbit in her arms, Wangxin placed it on the ground afar, watching it intently with her large eyes. With equal puzzlement, the rabbit observed the human who brought it here, unsure of her intentions. At dawn, when Xiao Mo awoke, he found Wangxin pointing the black dagger at the white rabbit, its red eyes blankly staring at her. Wangxin's grip on the dagger trembled. Eventually, resolved, Wangxin attempted to thrust the dagger at the rabbit. Yet, despite her multiple attempts, the dagger either hovered in mid-air or missed, landing beside the rabbit's feet. Once, the dagger just barely brushed against the rabbit, causing a tuft of fur to fall. Startled, Wangxin quickly reached out to gently pet the rabbit, checking for any harm she might have caused. "What are you doing?" Xiao Mo asked. "Ah!" Wangxin jumped, dropping the dagger to the side. Xiao Mo regarded Wangxin. "Were you trying to kill the rabbit?" At his words, Wangxin lowered her head, her fingers fidgeting. Finally, Wangxin nodded slightly, "Um." Even more puzzled, Xiao Mo pressed, "Why kill it?" "Because... I want to practice first..." Wangxin whispered. "Practice?" "Yes." Wangxin looked earnestly at Xiao Mo. "Last time you asked if I would help kill your enemies if it ever came to that... I thought long and hard about it. Eventually, I came to a decision." Xiao Mo responded, "What conclusion?" Wangxin clenched her small hands tightly. "If slaughter is necessary to protect you, then I will do it." "But Xiao Mo, I've never killed anyone. I'm afraid I won't be able to do it when the time comes... so..." As she spoke, Wangxin once again lowered her gaze. "So you decided to practice on this rabbit first?" Xiao Mo asked, bewildered. "You asked me for a dagger for this?" "Yes... but even after a whole night, I still couldn't bring myself to kill the rabbit..." Wangxin's head drooped, almost touching her chest. "Xiao Mo, am I useless?" "Sigh... this kind of thing doesn't relate to whether you're useful or not." Xiao Mo sighed, looking at the naive rabbit. "You inherently possess a kind heart. The fact that the rabbit doesn't run proves it senses no malice from you. Without killing intent, how could one commit such an act?" "I... I..." Wangxin looked at Xiao Mo with determination. "Give me some time, I will try my best!" "Try your best?" Xiao Mo locked eyes with her. "If you reach the day you can harden your heart, your Buddha nature will break, your path to monkhood will end, and you won't even be a monk. Is it worth it?" "It's worth it." Wangxin's clear eyes reflected Xiao Mo's image. "If it's for your sake, then I won't be a monk anymore."
