211 - Cinderella’s Dream: Together Forever

Chapter 211 (Extra Update) After finishing her statement, Chen Wan paid no heed to the reactions of the three doctors or the Black-framed Glasses Man who was ready to assist. She grabbed her steel blade and charged forward. Earlier, two of the doctors had been theatrically using chainsaws to create a gruesome scene over a corpse on a table. One doctor, still wielding a chainsaw, aimed it at Chen Wan. Chen Wan could see the thrill in the man's eyes. With a crisp clash, her steel blade collided with the chainsaw, and a segment of the blade was sheared off by its high-speed rotation. Dodging the blow, her eyes turned colder, yet the man, seeing his initial success, was overwhelmed with excitement. Grinning viciously, he advanced on Chen Wan, chainsaw in hand. Unperturbed, Chen Wan pulled a gun from behind her waist and, before the man could react, squeezed the trigger. The room echoed with three bangs until only the roaring chainsaw filled the surgical suite with noise. Chen Wan glanced at the Black-framed Glasses Man still in shock at the doorway, "Come over and help find the keys." He snapped out of it at her voice, and as they searched together, he inquired, "Where did you get that gun?" "Snatched it from an NPC. The rules only cover our escape routes and prohibit breaking the cameras, but nothing else is off-limits, so we're allowed to target NPCs," Chen Wan explained calmly. As she spoke, she found a key beside the operating table. She and the Glasses Man headed out to look for others. Meanwhile, Qin Ke distinctly heard the three gunshots and rushed toward the source, meeting Wei Si Yu and Big Guy at a crossroad nearby. Seeing Qin Ke, Wei Si Yu hurried over, "Are you okay? Any injuries?" Qin Ke, holding a machete and chains, smiled, "Don't worry, I'm perfectly fine. How about you?" "I'm fine too. I heard the gunshots and was just checking it out. Didn’t expect to run into you," Wei Si Yu replied, gripping a sharp spike. Big Guy, observing Qin Ke's weapons, murmured to himself, "Are all female alphas this fierce nowadays?" But feeling reassured upon seeing familiar faces, Big Guy relaxed a bit. "I heard gunfire too, thought it was a signal from Chen Wan, so I came to check. Good timing, saved us an extra trip," Qin Ke chimed in. "Right," Wei Si Yu agreed. Reunited, their collective confidence surged, especially for Qin Ke, who, armed with a steel blade and chain, now seemed more intimidating than the game's NPCs. Meanwhile, Chen Wan didn't linger in the hospital. She and Glasses Man headed outside, where the streets branched off into dark, unknowable paths. As they wavered in the middle of the road, a call for help echoed from one street. They exchanged a glance and sprinted into the depths of that street. At the street's end, Chen Wan and Glasses Man were met with a school. The setting was so authentic, it resembled an ordinary high school with its field and classrooms visible through the iron gate. Due to spatial limitations, the teaching building only had two floors, and it was from within this school that the cries emanated. Chen Wan eyed the campus gate, locked with a rusty chain. Using her half-intact steel blade, she hacked the chain and kicked open the gate, storming the campus with the Glasses Man. The cries seemed to come from the two-story building. Inside, near the stairwell's emergency window, Chen Wan found a fire axe. She smashed the glass, grabbed the axe, tossed aside her broken blade, and with the Glasses Man, dashed upstairs. No sooner did they appear than they saw Xiao Yu brandishing the leg of a chair at two student-like, blood-covered men. Behind her stood three high schoolers armed similarly with chairs. The two bloodied men wielded knives, an intimidating standoff had been ongoing, with Xiao Yu's group cornered. The bloodied men, upon seeing Chen Wan and company, grew more excited, spewing their sinister lines. "The cafeteria should be empty now, what a feast of fresh meat we have here. Where should I start?" "I hear girls' flesh is more tender, let's start with them." With grotesque grins, the men, clad in ghastly makeup, raised their bloodstained knives. Chen Wan noted the freshness of the dripping blood. Ignoring their perverse theatrics, Chen Wan nonchalantly swung a classroom desk at them. Surprised by her reaction, as they'd expected fear like they instilled in Xiao Yu’s group, the men were taken aback, unprepared for direct resistance. "Wait, we haven't finished our script..." the man tried to continue as Chen Wan's desk knocked him flat on the hall's floor, his bones cracking audibly in the intense impact. "Damn, my ribs... save me!" he groaned. Realizing Chen Wan's ferocity, the other man clenched his teeth and charged with a knife. But the cold gaze Chen Wan directed at him halted him in his tracks, almost as if feeling an invisible pressure, and he turned on his heel to flee down the corridor. Chen Wan's axe flew straight at him, cutting his escape short. Retrieving her axe, she turned to the man crushed under the desk, desperately crawling away. "Spare me, I’m an NPC, I haven’t harmed them yet!" he pleaded, voice trembling through the pain. "Don't come any closer!" Chen Wan paid him no mind, grabbing a nearby stool and hurling it down, restoring silence to the second-floor hall. She turned to Xiao Yu’s group, "Are you all alright?" "We're fine. It's a good thing you arrived when you did, or we might not have made it," Xiao Yu admitted, her palms sweaty. They'd nearly been overwhelmed, forced to fight fiercely with just chair legs. "As long as you're safe. How many keys have you found?" Chen Wan asked next. Xiao Yu shook her head sheepishly, "I started in the playground and ran in upon hearing cries for help. We've been locked in a standoff with those two. They played with us like cats with mice, enjoying our fear. We barely managed to survive this long. Sorry, we haven’t found any keys yet." Chen Wan nodded, "It's alright, safety comes first." With that, Chen Wan approached the classrooms down the second-floor corridor, kicking open the door of the first without hesitation. Inside, she found five scattered zombies. At the sight of an intruder, they charged eagerly at her. However, the doorframe restricted their approach, allowing only one at a time. As the first zombie lunged, Chen Wan's kick sent it flying against the wall, unable to rise again. The second and third zombies approached, and with a swift slash of her axe, she beheaded the male zombie, then swiftly dealt with the other as well. A kick to the last zombie’s neck cracked its spine audibly, leaving none with any ability to attack. "Search for keys inside. I’ll check the next classroom," she instructed, moving straight to the second room, kicking its door open. This classroom oozed more horror than the first. Dim lights flickered over rows of white candles on the desks, and five or six figures in ghastly makeup sat like ghostly students listening to a ghostly teacher at the podium. The sound of the kicked door caught seven sets of eyes, all turning to Chen Wan simultaneously. Though such a setting in a deadly haunted house would scare most into retreating—even knowing it’s fake—Chen Wan remained unflustered, raising desk after desk and hurling them at the “ghosts,” smashing one after another into pieces. The room was filled with the sounds of intense fighting and screams, but Chen Wan remained unaffected. These abusers had created their own grave; meeting such an end was fitting. The second classroom was the most heavily populated by NPCs in this area. Hearing the screams from this room, the other NPCs couldn't stay put and spilled out into the hallway to see what was happening. Chen Wan instructed the Black-framed Glasses Man to handle the aftermath of the second classroom while she, carrying the fire axe, headed towards the NPCs emerging from the other rooms. Seeing Chen Wan, a wave of unease washed over the four NPCs who began retreating one after another, ultimately fleeing out of the teaching building. The NPCs attempted to escape towards the school gate but found their path blocked by a woman wielding a steel blade and chain, with a Big Guy standing behind her. The woman's fierce demeanor matched that of Chen Wan—intimidating without needing to express anger. The NPCs were paralyzed with fear, unsure where to run. "We're NPCs from Canglong Bar, you can't touch us, can't touch us! My dad, my dad is someone notable in the Beijing City team. If you dare to hurt me, I'll make sure you don't survive out there..." The man tried to bluster further, but a gunshot echoed, cutting him off as pain bloomed in his chest, silencing him forever. Qin Ke fired four decisive shots, ending the lives of these monstrous individuals who had hidden behind a façade of happiness. ![This site is ad-free with a permanent domain (xbanxia.com)]
