230 - Cinderella’s Dream: Together Forever

Chapter 230 (Extra Edition 2: Parallel World) Chen Wan took Jiang Yan Xin and Zai Zai into a barbecue restaurant. She ordered beef, pork belly, and chicken breast, along with a variety of vegetables. The little one was already hungry and now sat in a high chair next to Chen Wan, acting as if she had known her mother forever. "Mommy, I want to eat that beef first," Zai Zai requested, recalling the types of meat the server had mentioned and now directing Chen Wan to grill the meat for her. "Alright, I'll grill it for you," Chen Wan replied, dutifully beginning to cook the meat for the little one. It dawned on her how familiar she was with this task, despite supposedly not having known the little one before today. The child watched the meat on the grill with wide eyes, occasionally taking sips of orange juice from a cup poised in her little hands. Her eagerness for the meat charmed Chen Wan endlessly. Before long, a large slab of beef was nicely grilled. Chen Wan used scissors to cut it into bite-sized pieces and placed them on the little one's plate, encouraging her to dip them in the sauce. Unhesitatingly, Zai Zai smiled at Chen Wan before bending her head to devour the beef on her plate. Chen Wan couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She looked up to find Jiang Yan Xin gazing expectantly at her. Hurriedly, Chen Wan served the remaining beef onto Jiang Yan Xin's plate. "Here, have something to eat too." “Okay,” Jiang Yan Xin murmured, finally starting to eat the beef. Chen Wan then turned her attention to grilling the pork belly and chicken breast. After some deliberation, she looked at Jiang Yan Xin and said, “After dinner, I’ll take you two home. Where do you live?” Both Jiang Yan Xin and the little one wore a similar pitiful expression as they looked at Chen Wan, making her feel like a jerk for some reason. “I have nowhere to go with Yang Yang. Can we stay at your place for now?” Jiang Yan Xin’s voice softened, her eyes filled with grievance. Chen Wan was taken aback. These days, were scams typically this straightforward? Asking to stay at someone’s house directly? How could she say it so boldly? Looking at the little one's eyes by her side, Chen Wan refused through gritted teeth, “I don’t even know you two, and I'm certainly not Yang Yang’s mommy; you should be very clear on that. If you really have nowhere to go, how about I take you to the police station afterward? The police should be able to find where you live.” “Chen Wan, I'm telling the truth; you really are Yang Yang’s mommy,” Jiang Yan Xin insisted, her eyes reddening slightly. Chen Wan couldn't stand seeing others cry. Noticing Jiang Yan Xin was on the verge of tears, she quickly said, “Let’s just eat for now, and we can discuss everything else later.”
