403 - Rebirth of a Star: Another Day, Another Drama
Chapter 403: Cutting the Grass and Uprooting the Weed Yang Feng gazed at Ye Linglong with a ferocious intensity, his expression so fierce that it seemed he wanted to devour her whole. "If you don't uproot the weed, it will grow again with the spring breeze." Ye Linglong caught the ominous glint in his eyes and knew she couldn't let such a threat linger. Finally, she waved her hand decisively, unsheathing her sword, and with a swift stroke, ended his life. The sword pierced through Yang Feng's chest. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the gaping wound. He could distinctly feel his life force ebbing away. With a heart full of resentment and unwillingness, he fell to the ground with a thud. "You're that woman!!!" someone in the crowd suddenly shouted, recognizing the sword, and chaos ensued among the onlookers. Wang Tong's eyes lit up instantly — that's his golden opportunity! He howled dramatically and dashed forward, trying to hug Ye Linglong's leg. "Auntie, you're finally here! I suffered terribly while you were away." Whether Ye Linglong acknowledged him as a grandson didn't matter to Wang Tong. As long as he was shameless enough, he could surely clutch onto this opportunity. Ye Linglong's face darkened, and before Wang Tong could come closer, she kicked him away. Wang Tong rolled on the ground before stopping and then shamelessly crawled back. "Auntie." Ye Linglong was speechless — she'd never seen anyone so thick-skinned. "Do you have any shame at all, Wang Tong?" Some of those who were on good terms with Yang Feng mocked him upon seeing his behavior. Wang Tong sneered at them. "What do you know?" Those people looked at Wang Tong with disdain, secretly spitting in their hearts. "We won't beat around the bush. Destroy the collars on us, or we'll shout, and you won't get out unscathed," they threatened Ye Linglong. Wang Tong was displeased. "Liu Xi, what are you trying to do?!" "Heh, nothing much, just leaving this hellhole, that's all." They looked at Ye Linglong with certainty, believing she would compromise. Ye Linglong chuckled lightly. "Heh~" "Why are you laughing!!!" "Of course I'm laughing. You are too naive, thinking you can negotiate with me when you have no power?" They paused, their expressions turning sour, and laughed sinisterly. "Heh, then why don't we all just die here." They were about to shout, but to their horror, they found they couldn't make a sound. Ye Linglong said, "Here's a life lesson for you: never threaten someone who can easily crush you, assuming you can even protect yourself. But..." She paused before continuing, "You might never get a chance to try this lesson again." As soon as she finished speaking, she swiftly dispatched them. To their disbelief, they died with such ease. The remaining crowd cowered in the corners of the mine, too scared to make a sound, their eyes filled with fear as they looked at Ye Linglong. "Auntie, what should we do next?" Wang Tong, shameless as ever, sidled up with a flattering smile. Ye Linglong shot him a glance but said nothing. She proceeded to extend her spiritual sense further into the mine to absorb the remaining celestial crystals into her space. The outer layers of the mine contained mid-grade celestial crystals, but as she explored deeper, they became sparse, as if there was an abrupt break. Pushing her spiritual sense to its limits, she discovered a translucent, white crystal within her perception. She saw clearly the white liquid flowing within, as radiant as starlight, very beautiful. It was the source of the celestial crystals — a rare find said to occasionally form in celestial crystal mines. The crystal's center contained vast amounts of celestial energy in liquefied form. Once she cracked it open and consumed its liquid, the powerful energy inside could help someone break through their bottleneck. With this, Ye Linglong's lips curled into a smile. A plan was forming in her mind, one to surprise the fiery lady. ... At the mining site, the guards idly chatted outside the mines, occasionally whipping the disobedient slaves. The people's faces were numb, having become accustomed to this kind of torment. They had once been the proud elites of the Lower Immortal Domain, living leisurely lives, as only the wealthy could afford tickets to the Middle Immortal Domain. Yet upon arrival, they found their status and wealth worthless. Suddenly, the previously clear sky clouded over with a pressing darkness, as thick clouds gathered like a massive weight, bringing a foreboding sense of an impending storm. Boom~ Rumbles of thunder echoed within the clouds, with flashes of purple-gold lightning. "Is someone undergoing a tribulation here?" one guard exclaimed at the sight. "Nonsense, who would undergo a tribulation here?" his companion retorted instinctively. "Indeed, this seems much like a celestial noble's tribulation. We have no one at that level among us," another chimed in. They all chattered on. The thunder intensified, and suddenly, a bolt, as thick as a barrel, struck down beside them, scattering sand and stones and leaving them with cuts. In their dazed state, they thought they saw a figure under the tribulation clouds — a person in blue clothes with long flowing hair, standing tiny yet unyielding before the overwhelming lightning. "It really looks like someone is undergoing a tribulation." As everyone was distracted by the figure amidst the lightning, Wang Tong and Feng Li stealthily went to each mine, destroying the collars on the unsuspecting "miners." The lightning was only a prelude. As the clouds gathered, the entire mining area plunged into darkness, feeling like the end of the world. Ye Linglong, with her sword in hand, hovered in the air, her eyes glancing at the distracted people of the Fire Family, as a mad smile spread on her face. She then slashed her sword at the tribulation clouds above. The onlookers were dumbfounded. "This... this person is crazy!!" Boom! Provoked, the tribulation lightning roared to life, enveloping Ye Linglong and everyone below in an overwhelming storm.
