I Got Reincarnated as a Villainess and Only I Get to Play a Yuri Game Author: Taira Asomi Previous Table of Contents Next Episode 594: "Two-Person Obstacle Race" First, we inspect the obstacles that seem reusable. With my leg tied to Azami’s, we link arms and wait for the signal. “Ready, set, go!” At Seri’s prompt, we dash out. Arm in arm with Azami, we move our legs in rhythm to the chant ‘One, two, one, two.’ Whether it’s our synergy or something else, we manage to run surprisingly well. The first obstacle we encounter is... “Sakuya-sama! Let’s crawl through!” “Alright...” A net is spread out before us. Weighted on the sides to keep it somewhat steady, but not immovable. Tugging at it excessively might only worsen the tangles. I figure a taut net would be easier to navigate. “This is difficult...” “Oh, come now... With me and Sakuya-sama, this is nothing...” Azami looked surprisingly despondent. While running, synchronizing with ‘one, two’ is simple, but crawling under a net complicates the coordination of which leg to move and when. With some verbal coordination, we attempt to progress, but syncing our foot movements proves challenging, and we keep getting snagged by the net. We’re unlikely to fall or get hurt, but it’s undeniably a challenging obstacle. “Eek! My hair’s caught...” “Hold on, Sakuya-sama! I’ll untangle it!” “Thank you, Azami-cha... Ah!” “Ah...” Despite tying my long hair back, it still got slightly caught. Azami offered to help, and as she worked on it, our faces drew very close. “Azami...chan...” “Sakuya-sama...” We stared at each other. Azami’s cheeks seemed flushed, her eyes misty, appearing quite endearing. Normally confident and assertive, her vulnerable expression made her incredibly cute. That contrast is charming, but more than anything, her natural features were always attractive. If only I could kiss such a lovely girl... “Saku...ya-sama...” “Azami-chan!” As I touched Azami’s cheek, she closed her eyes bashfully. This... is the chance! “I hate to intrude on your moment, but...” “You’re just in a net, so we can see everything...” “Ah...” Renka and Seri were watching us intently. Renka glared slightly, looking displeased, while Seri blushed, glancing back and forth between us. No, that’s not it... “Let’s, uh, move along, Azami-chan! Quickly now!” “Y-yes!” Feigning ignorance, Azami and I finished testing the remaining obstacles before switching roles. Incidentally, forgetting about my hair still entangled in the net, I tried to move forward only to feel it yanked, almost painfully so—let’s keep that a secret. ~~~ Having tested everything with Azami, we switched partners, and now Renka teamed up with her. I wanted to observe others running objectively, but apparently, I had to pair up with each person once before switching. No use arguing, I decided to experience it firsthand with everyone, hoping changing partners might reveal new insights. “Let’s get going, Sakuya-chan! One, two! One, two!” “Renka-chan, calm down...” Contrary to her usual calm demeanor, Renka was extraordinarily eager. Renka is typically the reserved, occult-loving type, but today everyone seemed off-character. Arms around each other, we chanted as we ran. Surprisingly, our rhythm was perfect—perhaps Renka and I had an unexpectedly good rapport. These thoughts distracted me as we reached the next obstacle. “Sakuya-chan! I’m going for this bread!” “Alright, I’ll take this one...” In the bread-eating competition, we had to bite suspended bread—not directly—the bread remained wrapped in a bag, whether in practice or the main event. We had to grab the bread together to move on. Was that really necessary? With limited obstacles suitable for two-person races, it would have to do... As we strategized and reached for the bread, it slipped away, swinging past me. Chasing it, I saw Renka snatch her bread in the commotion... “Ah!” “Oh...” Renka and I ended up biting the same side of the bread. Her nibbling at the edge was adorable. But that wasn’t the point—her face was too close. Furthermore, the spot she bit was where I’d been... “Renka-chan... that’s where I...” “Mmm... Tastes like Sakuya-chan.” “—!?” Renka murmured after biting the bag I’d nibbled, saying it tasted like me. The heat flooded my cheeks, embarrassed beyond reasoning. Perhaps Renka meant to lighten the mood, but realizing that someone was tasting something from where your own mouth had been—it was mortifying. “Sakuya-chan... blushing, you’re so cute... Sakuya-chan... Sakuya-chan!” “Ah! Renka-chan... nooo...” Renka hugged me tightly, continuing to mouth the bag, as if dramatically savoring the part I’d bitten. I was too embarrassed to look Renka in the face. “Renka! You’re overdoing it!” “...” “Hyaaa!?” Startled by a sudden voice, we turned to see Azami and Seri close by, watching us intently. How hadn’t I noticed them approach? I was clearly losing my focus. If I continue this way, my mentor might have stern words for me. “Run to the finish now!” “Y-yes!” Prompted by Azami-chan's encouragement, I quickly clamped my teeth around the bread bag and continued running. During this exercise, I noticed something important: the spacing between the hanging breads was too narrow. If you let go of the bread even for a moment, it would swing to the partner's side due to the recoil. To prevent odd accidents, it would be better to hang them a bit further apart. At least realizing this was beneficial. --- Having run with two pairs, I finally teamed up with Seri-chan. Although unexpected things had occurred with the others, I was confident that everything would go smoothly with Seri-chan. “Let’s go, Sakuya-chan. One, two, one, two…” “Yo! Ho! Yo! Ho!” Indeed, Seri-chan was composed and moved precisely. It was very easy to sync and run together. This was just perfect. “Next up is the ladder crawl. Let’s be careful.” “Yes, you’re right.” Though called a ‘ladder crawl,’ it wasn’t a real ladder. It was impossible for two people to crawl through a ladder frame simultaneously. Instead, a frame was prepared just wide enough for two people to barely squeeze through while embracing. Who decided on this size remains a mystery... “Alright, here we go…” “Right…” Getting our heads through was straightforward. The shoulder part, however, was the real challenge. If our shoulders could pass, the rest would likely follow. “We need to be cautious about our shoulders.” “Yes... we do...” Cautiously, we worked to pass our shoulders through. Once the shoulders were past... the rest should have been easy. “Our shoulders made it! Now...” “Yes! Now we’re...” “Ah...” Just when I thought we were through, we became stuck in the frame. Unable to move forward or backward, despite managing to get our widest parts—our shoulders—through, it was further ahead where we were caught. “Oh! Sakuya-chan, your chest is...” “Ugh! Seri-chan! Moving too much makes us rub against each other... Ah!” Seri-chan’s bust surpassed even Tsubaki-chan’s, rivalling Yuzuriha-chan in size. When paired with Renka-chan, who had a more modest size, or Azami-chan, possibly the smallest of us all, passing through the frame wasn’t an issue once our shoulders cleared. But combined with Seri-chan’s... it was impossible to get through this size. We were completely stuck, and there was no sign of getting free. “Ugh! Sakuya-cha...” “Seri-chan, please stop moving like that... Ah!” Even a slight wiggle caused friction between us. “Let’s try backing out. On three...” “Ugh, no!” “Ahh!” Trying to reverse proved too tight. If we did manage to move back, our shoulders would need to pass in the opposite direction. I couldn’t see how our shoulders and arms could make it through. “This isn’t going to work... Seri-chan... Let’s just push through...” “Yes... indeed. I don’t think retreating is possible. Let’s break through instead.” “On three...” “Ngh!” “Ah!” Both of us panted as we desperately tried to push through. But stuck as we were, it wouldn’t budge. Surrounded by tight, stimulating pressure, my discomfort was quickly turning into a ticklish sensation. At this rate... “Oh! Ah! Sakuya-cha...” “Seri-chan... Ngh!” “Ah!” “What are you two doing?” “Uwah!?” Just as we were so close to getting free, a voice startled us, making us jump in surprise. In doing so, we jostled free from the frame. With our busts—the widest part—finally through, escaping became much easier. “I mean, I’m not that different from Seri-chan in size...” “Aha...” Renka-chan commented, pressing her own chest. While she made her claim, both Tsubaki-chan and her clearly had formidable chests between them, further distinguishing them from Seri-chan. Perhaps it seemed overly modest compared to Seri-chan’s prominent size... “Well, shall we dash to the finish line?” “Yes...” Having made it past the frame, we completed the final sprint. This experience revealed that while overly wide frames make the ladder crawl unchallenging, sizing them based on assumptions could be risky. Ideally, everyone should safely pass through; creating a frame that is tricky yet not impossible for all participants is challenging. “When it comes to the ladder crawl, we may need to remove the leg ties and let everyone crawl through individually.” “Certainly...” After the run, we discussed what needed improvement. For example, avoiding tangled nets and increasing the space between the hanging breads. For the ladder crawl, perhaps untying the legs and letting individuals crawl through would be safer. We noted down the observations we had made. “Does anyone have any other ideas for obstacles?” This was crucial. Currently, there were too few obstacles. Finding obstacles that could be tackled with a three-legged race was a challenge. “Oh, oh! How about carrying a ball between our chests?” “Azami-chan... that's already part of another event...” Ball carrying is already established as a separate event. Yes, two-person collaboration in an obstacle would be ideal, but not if it just replicated existing competitions. “Then how about using a caterpillar?” “That’s also part of another event, you know?” True, some obstacle races include caterpillars. However, at Fujika Academy’s sports festival, there’s a separate caterpillar race event. Repeating the same content in an obstacle race is redundant. “What if we balance a ping pong ball on a spoon between the two of us?” “Interesting...” Such a challenge could definitely work. There isn’t an independent event like ping pong ball carrying, so it could fit nicely into an obstacle race. Though, focusing too much on the ball might lead to forgetting about your partner, potentially hindering progress. Still, removing all challenging obstacles could defeat the purpose. “What about hopscotch with rings placed on the ground?” “Hm...? Jumping seems a bit risky, but if the rule was merely to step within the rings without leaping, that might work.” Performing full hopscotch jumps arm-in-arm could be tough, but limiting steps only within reachable rings without jumping might create a mildly difficult but achievable challenge. “If anyone thinks of more ideas, let’s try them out.” “Yes!” Thus, we brainstormed potential ideas for our two-person obstacle race and tested them out, focusing on safety and the suitability of each obstacle.
