91 - Stop Hypnotizing Me, Villainous Princess!
**Chapter 91: A Date with the Princess!** Upon hearing Lynn's unexpected words, Evister, seated at her desk, looked up. She furrowed her brows. "Are you tired of living?" Lynn glanced at her and noticed that her expression was as cool and indifferent as ever, without a hint of change. Shouldn't there be something different? Logically, she should be troubled by the sudden assignment, shouldn't she? Even if not troubled, shouldn't there be some sort of reaction? Though Lynn wasn't sure about the task's exact details, the fact that it delayed her return to the imperial capital suggested that it must’ve been ordered by none other than influential figures, maybe even Saint Roland the Sixth himself. According to Miss Witch, this mission would take a long time. While the exact duration was unknown, given her temperament, she should be at least a bit upset about it. Yet here Lynn was, unable to detect any signs of discontent from her. Could it be that Miss Witch's memory was faulty due to the long span of time? Regardless, there was no turning back now. Bracing himself, Lynn repeated his earlier invitation, albeit in a slightly different manner: "Your Highness, would you like to go out with me tomorrow?" Evister was taken aback for a second before responding with a cold smile, "And why is that?" "I want to give you a precious memory," Lynn answered ambiguously, employing a montage technique. After all, he had noticed immediately that she was wearing a ring with lie-detecting capabilities on her finger. Sure enough, Evister glanced at the ring. When she realized that Lynn wasn't lying, a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes but was quickly masked. Silence settled over them. As the one who extended the invitation, Lynn averted his gaze, avoiding her ruby-like eyes. She said nothing, merely watching him, her thoughts unreadable. Time ticked by slowly. With the mounting pressure on his shoulders, Lynn was about to ask her to fulfill her previous promise. Just then, Evister's cool yet melodious voice rang out again. "Okay." Lynn looked up in disbelief. Did she actually agree? The next morning, as Lynn stood silently waiting at the estate's entrance for Evister, his mind was still processing what had transpired the day before. He had never expected she would agree without him having to use that wish. Was it possible she had fallen for him? Quite likely. Lynn pondered his own allure, unconsciously stroking his chin in a mix of confusion and contemplation. Just then, Grea, the bystander, chimed in, "You've been flaunting yourself since yesterday. Who’s the lucky lady you’re meeting?" "Is it Madame Mélanie? I’ve noticed you've been heading her way quite often. Your taste is indeed unique." "Even if she dresses up, she's just a kid. Doesn't pique interest." Grea continued, curious about who Lynn was dating today, longing for an answer the man wouldn't give. His curiosity piqued, he stayed nearby since dawn, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious woman. “Click, click, click.” A series of sharp footsteps sparked Grea's curiosity anew, believing he was close to discovering Lynn's secret. But when he turned, fully expecting a revelation, he was petrified by the sight of the woman approaching. "Good morning, Your Highness," Grea stammered, his face turning white as a sheet, legs shaking like leaves. Evister cast him a fleeting glance before shifting her gaze back to Lynn, her face expressionless. "I wasn’t aware when you said a 'stroll' that it involved a third person." "I'm leaving immediately!" Before Lynn could respond, Grea scrambled to leave. Meanwhile, his impression of Lynn soared. Lynn was ruthless. A rare specimen among men, truly the epitome of masculinity! After all, how else could one explain him winning over the infamous royal princess in just over half a month at the estate? Indeed, Lynn was no ordinary man, capable of achieving what others could only dream of. But should he circulate this tale or keep it secret? Spreading it could likely lead to his demise. His face went pale with such thoughts. Watching Grea's escape, Lynn said nothing, relishing in the spectacle. He then turned to face the princess in front of him. He had expected Evister to dress up for the occasion but was greeted by her usual black gown, matching heels, and hair tied in a simple, high ponytail, exuding elegance and efficiency. Despite himself, Lynn found her beauty striking. Seeing his reaction, Evister frowned and asked, "So, what do you propose we do on this 'date'?" Pulled from his reverie, Lynn hastily looked away. "Just a casual stroll, some dining, enjoying the scenery, and having a chat." "Sounds dull." Evister remarked dispassionately. Yet, seconds later, she began walking ahead by herself. Lynn shook his head, quickly closing the gap between them. "Ahem, Your Highness, generally speaking, on a date... cough, hand-holding is customary." "Hand-holding?" Evister sneered, "You have quite the nerve." So it's out of the question? Though slightly crestfallen, Lynn wasn't disheartened. Moments later, Evister paused, "However... since I've agreed, it doesn’t matter." "And by the way, I don't care much for such terms." Saying this, she turned to face Lynn, a mischievous grin curling her lips as she extended her slender, pale hand towards him. "Shake on it.” Lynn took a deep breath, wondering why she always managed to provoke him with a single sentence. Stay calm! Obtaining an early return to the imperial capital is part of the plan! After a fierce internal struggle, he reluctantly placed his hand in hers. Feeling the softness of her skin, along with its cool sensation, Lynn's heart skipped inexplicably. This isn't right. Something's off with her today. Their first stop was a high-end women's apparel store. "You brought me here?" Surrounded by luxurious garments, Evister seemed unimpressed, even somewhat displeased. Despite the costly items around them, which were priced beyond an ordinary person's lifetime earnings, she, being a pampered princess, found them beneath her. "Your Highness, the essence of a date is to enjoy ordinary activities," explained Lynn quietly. Evister remained skeptical, then instructed the nearby female clerks, oblivious to their befuddlement, "Fetch me your most expensive outfits and shoes." The clerks glanced amongst themselves before scattering, heeding Lynn’s urgent nod. Neither of the two before them appeared the type they could afford to offend. Minutes later, faced with an array of finely arranged garments and footwear, Evister swept her eyes over them. "You, pick out the best looking for me." She ordered Lynn. Blinking in surprise, he turned obediently, selecting an outfit based on his aesthetic sense. "Are you trying to embarrass me?" Evister said icily, "The clothes here are already subpar, and you’ve chosen the worst ensemble." Holding a wide-brimmed hat, a white ruffled gown, and crystal heels encrusted with diamonds, Lynn fell silent. Was his taste really that appalling? All he wanted was to see the princess, so perpetually austere and sharp, try a different, perhaps pure, style. Instead, he was ruthlessly mocked. As he deliberated whether to choose again, Evister spoke once more. "Hand them over." Looking up, Lynn saw her eyes settled on the crystal heels in his hand, expressionless. Reading the situation, Lynn swiftly approached her, offering the shoes with both hands. Unexpectedly, seeing Lynn's demeanor, Evister suddenly furrowed her brows and spoke with a cold tone, "Do you think this princess is in the habit of bending down to put on her own shoes?" Lynn was stunned for a few seconds as he gazed at the fair, beautiful leg extending from beneath the hem of her skirt and the small, graceful feet encased in the black high-heeled shoes. Sensing the peculiar glances from the surrounding store clerks, he took a deep breath and slowly bent down. Stay calm. This is part of the plan. Though seemingly a mundane task, it's a crucial part of the setup. During the double vote period, remember to cast your votes, folks! [In reading mode, you cannot automatically load the next page.
