Chapter 55 - Self-Rescue Manual of a Villainess

Chapter 055: The Purpose of the White Wolf "I only need useful people... what about the rest, Fuhu?" Nan Yin's tone was indifferent, as if she wasn't discussing thirty living beings, but rather thirty pieces of optional merchandise. Standing beside her, Fuhu Zhengsi understood her intent and immediately stepped forward, unsheathing a dagger in front of the White Wolf. "Mr. White Wolf, it is time for your decision. You have two choices..." Fuhu Zhengsi glanced around at all present. "First, this dagger will cut off the heads of those implicated, and it will also serve as my gift to you." "Second, it will be used to pierce your wife's heart, along with those of the remaining slaves..." Before Fuhu Zhengsi could finish, the White Wolf had already taken the dagger from him and advanced towards a corner. It was only then that Nan Yin took notice of three or four unconscious individuals tied up. Without hesitation, the White Wolf executed and held up the heads of two people. Then, he turned to the remaining slaves. Seeing the White Wolf's numb eyes and recalling the images of their own families, the two former peacekeepers each took charge of the dagger and decapitated the remaining people. Looking at the three bloodied peacekeepers, Nan Yin nodded in satisfaction. At this point, she turned her gaze towards Fuhu Zhengsi, her eyes displaying curiosity. Fuhu Zhengsi leaned in and whispered, "These four were unsolicited visitors previously. I kept them alive so these people can prove their loyalty to us." "The four of them are the brains of the local gang. Killing them would make it impossible for us to survive in Tenchū City," he explained, noticing Nan Yin's confusion. Nan Yin was enlightened. The three former peacekeepers had made their choice- they had pledged their loyalty to Nan Yin. "Then... welcome to our ranks, Mr. White Wolf." Nan Yin extended her hand, which was clean of the blood that stained the uniforms of the peacekeepers, toward the White Wolf. As far as the names of the other two went, Nan Yin felt no need to know. She only had to remember the name of the White Wolf because at this moment, it was clear the two peacekeepers would follow his orders. Just as she did, the White Wolf hesitated before kneeling on one knee. He spoke, "You have granted us freedom once again. With the Gods of Basel as my witness, I swear to repay your boundless favor with all my heart!” Indeed, loyalty to those who save their lives is a characteristic of their culture. With White Wolf kneeling in fidelity, the remaining two peacekeepers expressed their allegiance to Nan Yin by kneeling as well. No words were uttered, but the demonstration was sufficient. "Perfect..." Nan Yin smiled, gently pressing her hand on the White Wolf's shoulder, slowly taking off the magical slave collars from their necks. "White Wolf, go to your wife. Her sudden freedom might be a bit unsettling," Nan Yin suggested and waved her hand dismissively. The White Wolf thumped his chest in acknowledgment and sprung up enthusiastically to find his wife. Watching his ecstatic figure, Nan Yin tilted her head and turned her gaze to the two remaining individuals. "I don't need to know your names, but you’re satisfied with Mr. White Wolf's command, right?" Desiring the same freedom for their loved ones, they nodded frantically. Observing their overjoyed expressions, Nan Yin turned to look at Fuhu Zhengsi, who finished disposing the headless bodies. "Fuhu, until I find a reliable control means, keep an eye on them." "Certainly!" Sensing Fuhu Zhengsi's unease, Nan Yin smiled, almost affectionately. "Of course, such a means would never be applied to you because, after all, you're my most reliable subordinate, not some unstable slave. Do you understand?" Fuhu bowed down hastily. An affectionate smile? Perhaps his mistress’s loving grin while teasing him was somewhat gentler than her current smile. A beautiful, yet dangerously beguiling smile. ……………… White Wolf was a peacekeeper from Basel whose jurisdiction fell to the rebels, forcing him and his family into enslavement. Among the peacekeepers, one only had a sister remaining while the other was a solitary soul. Having these three under her thumb was ideal for Nan Yin, as controlling their fate was as easy as pie. "Miss, don’t you wish to take in the remaining people?" Standing behind Nan Yin in a uniform identical to Fuhu’s, White Wolf cautiously posed the question. In front of him, the beautiful, silver-haired girl was casually leaning on the balcony railing, gazing down at the numb slaves below. "Take them in? White Wolf, didn't I mention already? I only need useful people," Nan Yin pointed down at the slaves, their faces blank with despair. "I don’t know what they have been through, but just look at them, numbness and despair are etched on their faces. How can these individuals be of any value to me?" Nan Yin’s statement was interrupted by the dissent of the peacekeeper who was stopped by the White Wolf. The White Wolf didn’t silence his subordinate out of cowardice or indifference to Nan Yin's insult to them. He had paid heed to her intangible connotation. "Miss, you may not know, but there's a unique trait to the slave traders of Tanlang..." "They never trade low-level slaves.” They were high-level slaves indicating they were of value. Indeed, these words piqued Nan Yin’s interest; it seemed she was patiently waiting for this line. "White Wolf, what do you mean by this?" "Miss, these slaves are plundered talents from my homeland! They are technicians from the arsenal, high-ranking accountants from banks, and even local teachers…I believe they can all be of use to you.” He refuted her statement that these people were worthless by adding value to them. Though White Wolf played craftily, because high-ranking accountants and teachers might sound vital but may not provide the same level of utility to the mistress. But does it matter? As long as he could shield this group, it served the purpose. He miscalculated, however. Not only was Nan Yin not burdened by these people, but she was also in dire need of such talents. People who could expedite the formation of a power.
