310 - I Don’t Want to Be Turned Into the Female Protagonist by the System

Chapter 310: Su Wei Yi's Calculated Plan (Third Update) Su Qi had just finished making all her calls, which took a little over a class period. It's said that humans are creatures of habit, and indeed, Su Qi was pretty nervous for the first few calls. However, as she continued, the pressure began to ease considerably. She shared detailed information about the situation with each parent of the students in class 212B. She explained that she lacked a teaching certificate, was teaching for the very first time, and was even assuming the role of class teacher. To her surprise, even though Su Qi expected resistance from some parents, by the end of the calls, not a single parent had outright objected to her taking on the role of class teacher. In fact, most parents had already been informed about the upcoming parent-teacher meeting the night before, as word had already spread among the students in 212B. Naturally, as concerned parents, they inquired about the situation and learned about Mr. Huang's resignation and Su Qi stepping up as the new teacher. As it happened, there was plenty of information about Su Qi available online. Upon some investigation, parents found that Su Qi was a person of good character, far better than the money-grabbing Mr. Huang. As for not having a teaching certificate, parents of the class 212B students expressed that they were no longer solely concerned about grades. What mattered more was character and instilling the right values in their children. With the calls finished, Su Qi breathed a large sigh of relief and collapsed onto the sofa like a deflating balloon, a small smile gracing her lips, indicating her good mood. Su Wei Yi glanced at the clock; it was nearly noon. He spoke up, "Let's go, big brother will take you out for a feast!" Hearing the word "feast," Su Qi perked up. She had risen at six in the morning at Lu Ran's behest, recalling the 7 a.m. morning study session. Short on time, she skipped breakfast at home, only managing some milk and a bread roll in the car, and with all the nerve-wracking phone calls she had just made, she was indeed starving. Despite her brother's promise of a feast, Su Qi was eager to give it a try. But when they arrived at the canteen, she was bemused to see a few scattered people and glanced at Su Wei Yi with an expression that clearly said, "You tricked me." Laughing, Su Wei Yi led her to the back kitchen of the school. There, Su Qi was presented with a gigantic steamed king crab. The shell was bright red as if it had a cold, radiating warmth from the small table it had been placed on, its tantalizing aroma undeniable even from a distance. "What do you think? Big brother especially arranged this for you. Isn't it a feast?" Su Wei Yi found satisfaction in his sister's wide-eyed shock. It was the first time Su Qi had seen a cooked king crab in person. She had always wanted to try it in college but had been deterred by the steep price. To her surprise, her brother was actually treating her to such an expensive meal, filling her with gratitude as she nodded enthusiastically. If Su Siyang knew what his sister was thinking right now, he might cough up blood in frustration. Had he known, he would've skipped spending the money and just aligned it so his sister could enjoy some crab without the fancy setup. As Su Qi perched on a stool, Su Wei Yi noticed her excitement and offered her an apron to protect her clothes. After thanking her brother, she joined him in cracking open the crab legs, delightedly devouring the succulent meat inside. The school chef had thoughtfully pre-cracked the crab, making it easier for Su Qi to enjoy the flesh without the hassle. She compared one of the massive crab legs to her own arm, marvelling at its size. Carefully prying open the shell revealed gleaming, springy crab meat. Su Qi took a big bite, amazed at how the lengthy crab leg filled her mouth with tender sweetness, savoring its flavor without the usual struggle of peeling the shell away. For Su Wei Yi, inviting his sister for lunch wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision. As a principal, it was natural to scout for talent. In his eyes, Su Qi fit the ideal candidate profile perfectly. After previous meals together, Su Wei Yi realized his sister had quite a fondness for food, which he planned to use to win her over to the idea of staying connected with the Saide International School, leaving her with fond memories. Come internship or job hunting in their third year, it would be easier to persuade her to stay. After such considerations, Su Wei Yi offered Su Qi another crab leg. Su Qi shook her head, declaring she was too full to eat another bite. Remembering her unread stock trading manual that morning, she hastily returned to class after lunch after saying goodbye to her brother. Su Wei Yi gazed at the untouched remains of the king crab, deep in thought. Could bribing his sister really be accomplished with just two crab legs? Had he known, he would've spared most of the crab and only prepared two legs. What a waste. Su Qi returned to class 212B by 12:30. To her surprise, she found several students already engaged in their studies. Hadn't the principal mentioned that students in class 212B weren't interested in learning? Su Qi approached a couple of female students flipping through textbooks, asking, "Did you both have lunch, Wang Ying and Yishu?" Wang Ying and Zhang Yishu were taken aback; their introductions the previous day had been brief, with only names exchanged. They hadn't expected Su Qi to remember. Plus, being close to her, they caught the subtle, captivating scent she wore. Intrigued by perfumes, as any young girls from affluent families would be, Wang Ying ventured, "Miss Su, your perfume smells amazing. What brand is it?" Their question reminded Su Qi to be cautious. She couldn't stay among the students too long, lest her charm buff turn into a bewitching one, causing unnecessary commotion. However, Su Qi had no idea about the perfume brand herself. Having spent so much time with calm and stylish friends like An Ning and Zijin, she knew the subtle scent on her was different from any perfume. Left with no choice, Su Qi told a small lie, "I didn't use any perfume, maybe it's just my laundry detergent." Dodging further questioning, Su Qi quickly shifted the conversation focus. Glancing at the physics worksheets Wang Ying and Zhang Yishu were working on, Su Qi assessed their approach and identified their issues. She patiently guided the students through the problem-solving process. With Su Qi's methodical help, Wang Ying and Zhang Yishu finally arrived at the correct answers on their own. The two students were increasingly impressed; a physics teacher knowing math isn't uncommon, but an English teacher excelling in physics was quite a magical feat. However, the wonder didn't stop there. Su Qi continued, "If you have questions beyond English, please feel free to ask me!" Both students were astonished, thinking their English teacher was exceptionally brilliant. Returning to her own seat beside her quiet desk partner Xiao V, Su Qi opened up "Stock Trading Manual 2." Benefiting from the focus aura, the entire class spent the afternoon steeped in a studious atmosphere. Even the substitute teachers were bewildered, wondering if they had entered the wrong room. While the English class went as usual, math class was extraordinary. As the math teacher went over problems from the previous day's test, he found over twenty students paying rapt attention, their eyes full of both curiosity and confusion. Oblivious to the sudden shift in attitude among the 212B students, he was still happy to teach them, appreciating their efforts. This was perhaps the most pleasant class he'd taught in 212B. Su Qi was unaware of the catalyst behind her classmates' interest in studying again. Yet, she was pleased with this positive shift. In those couple of days, she studied alongside the students of class 212B. Unbeknownst to Su Qi, she had become something of a role model. When faced with complex questions, students often feel overwhelmed and tempted to give up. But each time they glanced up, they'd spot their dedicated teacher immersed in her enormous book, alongside peers who were also engrossed in study, prompting them to also persevere. By Friday afternoon's end, nobody had reverted to their old slacking habits. Amidst this intense academic atmosphere, the class 212B parent-teacher meeting kicked off at 8:00 p.m.!
